When animals eat too much too fast sometimes they puke.
...and at 32lbs.....he needs to puke up his dinner quite a bit.

Re: help I have a sick cat
He is probably eating his food too fast. Mine eats and pukes sometimes, so I try to keep his food dish shallow. Try putting his dry food in a single layer on a small baking sheet, and his wet food spread flat on a plate, so he can't gobble it up too fast.

Re: help I have a sick cat
This happens to all cats. There are bowls that prevent them from eating too fast, but a trip to the vet is probably a good idea.

Switch food brands and give him something that is not his favorite food (but nutritious). Maybe he won't eat it so fast or eat so much.

At least he isn't too tired to get up and just poops as he lays down. That used to happen to a family members dog after Thanksgiving dinner.

Re: help I have a sick cat
As above.. you are not doing this cat ANY favors. A cat will eat too fast and toss it back on your floor.

Cats food bowls should not be kept where they eat, it should only be placed there at feeding time during the day and with only the proper amount of food in it. It may be hard at first, but cats are stubborn and pig headed.. if you give them an inch they take a mile.

Care for your cat the correct way, or you will be in for heartache far too soon.

Re: help I have a sick cat
Our cats were doing the same. I put them on cat food that has meat as the main ingredient - not meal or corn - and they did SO much better. I sent the kids to the store and they bought cheap crap and the cats get sick again. I'm convinced our kitties bellies cannot handle corn or meal very well.

Re: help I have a sick cat
32lb for any domestic cat is extremely obese, my girlfriend is a vet tech and she said you should take him to the vet either way. he could have diabetes and this could be causing him to be this heavy, he also could have hyper-thyroid issues, so it is actually important to take the cat to see the vet

You've been given basic instructions on what to do to seek the proper help, now its up to you to actually get this done.

He could be throwing up because something is not healthy within the cat, not because he wants to keep eating. I know that sounds like a nice plausible excuse but I think there is more going on inside

CAT DOOM!

Re: help I have a sick cat
As hard as it may be, you have got to stop feeding him so much.

Feed him half a cup once in the morning. Let him eat it. If he pukes, let him. But don't feed him again until the next morning.

It sounds like his problem stems from being overfed.

Regardless, I hope he gets better. hf

Good advice.

My moms friend has an obese cat... she puts him on special food, gives him meds, does all kinds of crap. The one thing she won't do? Feed him less.

We all love our cats. But over-feeding them will only harm them in the long run.

Re: help I have a sick cat
When did you take him to the vet last time? He may be sick. I suggest full blood test.

Do not starve you cat. Ask the vet about low cal food. This way he may eat the same amounts and slowly lose some weight.

Good luck!

Yes, eating too fast...give him just a bit at a time..or a puzzle box toy thing where he works to capture each kibble.

Re: help I have a sick cat
I would start restricting his food access - give him smaller portions, try to control how fast he's eating.

Either way, like other posters have suggested, you may want to take him in to the vet and have some bloodwork done at the very least. He could be diabetic or a host of other problems.

If that doesn't figure things out, you may be looking at some more expensive testing/scans to see if he's got something going on anatomically.

Poor dude.

As an animal lover, I know how frustrating it can be when they get sick - they can't tell you what's wrong or different. It makes diagnosis a bitch sometimes.
