Anonymous Coward User ID: 62902264 Mexico 09/26/2014 11:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | its not a big deal Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54276813 The mist is suggested for those ages because of a weak immune system, putting in flu shots right around the time you are getting childhood vaccination series could cause unwanted side effects. The mist is more effective but takes longer to create immunity. As for the high dose suggestion for immuno compromised and people over age of 65, every year the cdc has a decent idea of what strains are most likely to hit the population. They change every year and are sometimes stronger than other years. This year seems like they are expecting a nastier version of the virus which is why older people and those with suppressed immune systems need it. There is no conspiracy here. |

Yeah, and this always seems relevant too: Quoting: Ag47 [link to www.irs.gov] Vaccines Tax is imposed on certain vaccines sold by the manufacturer in the United States. A taxable vaccine means any of the following vaccines. Any vaccine containing diphtheria toxoid. Any vaccine containing tetanus toxoid. Any vaccine containing pertussis bacteria, extracted or partial cell bacteria, or specific pertussis antigens. Any vaccine containing polio virus. Any vaccine against measles. Any vaccine against mumps. Any vaccine against rubella. Any vaccine against hepatitis A. Any vaccine against hepatitis B. Any vaccine against chicken pox. Any vaccine against rotavirus gastroenteritis. Any HIB vaccine. Any conjugate vaccine against streptococcus pneumoniae. Any trivalent vaccine against influenza. Any meningococcal vaccine. Any vaccine against the human papillomavirus. The tax is $.75 per dose of each taxable vaccine. The tax per dose on a vaccine that contains more than one taxable vaccine is $.75 times the number of taxable vaccines. Taxable use. Any manufacturer (including a governmental entity) that uses a taxable vaccine before it is sold will be liable for the tax in the same manner as if the vaccine was sold by the manufacturer. Not me. yes!!! it is a big deal, u r correct! my mom-law works at a hospital (billing dept) she was told last yr she had to get a flu shot or no paycheck & no raise. being this is her best job she had in her life (after raising 4 kids on her own) she had to do it. I still dont agree with her decision but... Same thing happened to my mother a few years back. She was a transcriptionist for the main hospital on this side of the state. She didn't even work in the hospital, she worked in a building with no patients or even anyone that had contact with them. The only way she could get out of it was if she got a statement from her doctor saying she couldn't get one for medical reasons. She quit over it. They basically force everyone to get one. Would a religious exemption have worked? It works so that children don't have to get the vaccination series. |

And though we have gotten sick from time to time we have never had a full out flu. Or at least I don't believe so. Many people don't understand that a cold and the flu are two different things. Anyway, my old pediatrician would get bent out of shape every time I refused to get my kids the flu shot. I would remind him that I had never had to lug them in to the office because they caught the flu and he would get even more bent out of shape. I've built up their immune systems with good ole going out side to play, proper nutrition, personal hygiene and not allowing them to become addicted to hand sanitizer. Flu shot? For what? No thanks. And if someone in my family does happen to get sick we deal with it like my ancestors did. Lots of fluids, rest and homemade chicken soup. you're nearly a laugh, but you're really a cry. |

What is Guillain-Barré Syndrome? Here is the definition the CDC gives: Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare disorder in which a person’s own immune system damages their nerve cells, causing muscle weakness and sometimes paralysis. GBS can cause symptoms that last for a few weeks. Most people recover fully from GBS, but some people have permanent nerve damage. In very rare cases, people have died of GBS, usually from difficulty breathing." the new cases of kids with paralysis issues. kids should get the mist instead of shot.
