Hey Settle! Im in a panic at the moment. My daughters boyfriend had out patient surgery at Presby last week while Duncan was in there. She has been to the out patient surgery center twice. Now my son is not feeling well, fever, sore throat, headache. He is headed to the clinic now. I'm guessing he has the flu but who knows.

No truer words have been spoken. We are so appreciative of them in every way. We need a miracle to get him home in less than a month and a half. I believe in miracles!

But either way, I will pray for you......so sorry you are in a state of fear.

Remember the old ways of healing, surround the sick with love and care. Not a sterile, empty white room with no love in it.

Need y'all to report in on local events around DFW area that may not get reported nationally

I am wondering if people are starting to pull kids out of Dallas schools

And if your airlines report fewer passengers flying out of DFW

The whole state of Texas needs to be quarantined......NOW!

I asked my son to take pictures of anything strange and ask plenty of questions at the clinic. Not sure if he will do it because hes a guy, he thinks his mom is crazy and over reacting. I'll give y'all a report when he gets home.

Thanks everyone for the love being sent my way. I just need to calm down. All moms worry when our kids are sick, no matter how old they are. And the Ebola scare just fuels the worry fire.

My son just came home and said there is a 1 1/2 hour wait at the care now clinic. They sent him HOME to wait and said they would call him when its time to come back. WTF???? I've never heard of this before.

I wanted to add, they gave him a paper with 2 questions on it, Have you traveled to Africa and have you come in contact with an Ebola patient. Don't know the exact wording because this is second hand info.

Report back from the clinic. They gave him a "shot" of steroids for his throat. And said If he feels worse, call them back.

NO ONE was in the clinic waiting room when he went back. They are not letting people sit in the waiting room anymore which is probably a great idea. They are now taking names, sending people home to wait and calling them when the Dr. can see you.

This morning's news of a second healthcare worker is not unexpected for us GLPers, but will be catching other DFW residents by surprise.

* Absenteeism from schools

* Unusual experiences at health care facilities

* Shortages in stores

* Advisements at work, ie watch this stupid ebola video made by the CDC last month, and sign here that you watched it so now you know all about ebola.

* Local gossip, no matter how outlandish

...Gov. Perry has been strangely silent lately. And where is Jenkins, the "I didn't even change my shirt" guy?

Getting local info from the man/woman on the street is vital right now. I have to wonder at our local news channels here - they're currently having a discussion about Christmas shopping and Black Friday. not much coming in re; this new development.

A friend of mine that is a nurse at our local hospital printed out a questionnaire that the CDC wants them to ask patients...A Health Advisory for all Health Care Providers...A Checklist for ebola preparedness....It is interesting how they are to 'Prepare To Detect' this and how/what to do if detected...

Hey Settle, I have some backside intel from an "Uncle" in Dallas.

The CDC/WHO numbers for Africa are probably correct. The will need lots of body bags over there.

In the US, we will have a couple of hot spots but will not lose many lives. They are setting up regional hospitals nationwide to handle the clusters. They might go to mandatory 21 day quarantine centers near the regional hospitals but that decision has not been made yet.

Sorry, I can't say any more. Take the info for what its worth but It comes from someone who is in the "know."

Thank God I have a respirator mask and gloves. They are coming in very handy while I'm making hot pepper jelly today.

Amarillo TX here. A friend of mine works at a hospital and told me that a patient has been quarantined with Ebola like symptoms. According to him, security is calling it a "code strong: combative patient."

News site posts an article an hour later to confirm it and hospital is on lockdown.

Ne of McKinney here..hurting all over.stomach issues for a couple of daysnow.slight fever..blaming allergies and upcoming weather change.My time of the year for allergies. I try to talk to people around here and personally keep them as up to date as I can. I also do that with family around the country. It just irks me that so many have the lay down and whatever comes mentality. Even my wife to whom I am not speaking to at the moment. Nobody wants to alter simple habits to protect themselves at least some. It is frustrating. My wife has the notion that she is defiantly not going to alter what she does on a daily basis. If fact she has pushed her habits further. Example. Despite the risks involved she takes a vacation day to go with her dad to a popular Dallas area casino...Choctaw. The machines get a dry rag rub down. I avoid that place during flu season. She and I are not talking. Can't get her to realize that if she brings it home..she could kill our boys..her parents..right across the street and me. Doesn't phase her. Defiantly independent beyond logic and sense. Any ideas on how to deal with this would be helpful.
