I am fearing the day when I hear of a suspected case in Wichita Falls...I am trying to greatly limit any travel outside of our town...but it can be brought in so easy just by people stopping at a gas station or for fast food...

It seems that each day the 'suspected' cases are increasing...What will it be like 2 weeks from now?...A month from now?...

Just venting...

Re: My Fellow Texans - Please Report In!
Ok Neighbors... Grapevine, Texas reporting in. Lets share what we know since there are lots of us who might have info that is not being reported in the MSM. In Texas we take care of our own.

NOTE: Spammers and Haters will not be tolerated on this thread! Please don't post anything regarding the politics of the Ebola situation. It is what it is and now we have to deal with it. I'm trying to keep this a friendly thread for those of us on the ground in Texas to share advice and info. Thank You in advance for understanding.

Remember that thread from the other day where someone claiming to be nurse said Presbyterian Hospital was canceling all surgeries? Well, I call BS and this is why.

This morning my daughter went to ground zero (Presby hospital) with her boyfriend who was having a tonsillectomy over in the surgery center.

Anyway, They did ask her boyfriend pre-op if he has traveled recently. He said," No, but I do live in North Dallas not too far from the Ebola guy." The nurse did not think that was funny. It wasn't meant to be funny, it's the truth.

I asked her if she saw anything odd around the surgery center. She said, other than a sign at the front door that reads, If you are coughing or sneezing...do not enter" Everything seemed normal.

Ne of McKinney here..hurting all over.stomach issues for a couple of daysnow.slight fever..blaming allergies and upcoming weather change. My time of the year for allergies. I try to talk to people around here and personally keep them as up to date as I can. I also do that with family around the country. It just irks me that so many have the lay down and whatever comes mentality. Even my wife to whom I am not speaking to at the moment. Nobody wants to alter simple habits to protect themselves at least some. It is frustrating. My wife has the notion that she is defiantly not going to alter what she does on a daily basis. If fact she has pushed her habits further. Example. Despite the risks involved she takes a vacation day to go with her dad to a popular Dallas area casino...Choctaw. The machines get a dry rag rub down. I avoid that place during flu season. She and I are not talking. Can't get her to realize that if she brings it home..she could kill our boys..her parents..right across the street and me. Doesn't phase her. Defiantly independent beyond logic and sense. Any ideas on how to deal with this would be helpful.

Re: My Fellow Texans - Please Report In!
I hope all of us will keep this family in our prayers,,they took the high road, and with hope and prayers and bleach....I hope they are all well

The man, who has not been identified, was on Frontier Flight 1143 from Cleveland to Dallas on Monday night and was "in close proximity" to Vinson.

Officials say the man has chosen to "separate himself from others, including his family," and that he has not exhibited any symptoms of the virus.

Officials say the man has three children who attend Georgetown ISD schools, but they were not on the flight and they have not been exposed to anyone with Ebola symptoms. However, the family has chosen to keep the children home from school.

I am here in the Rio Grande Valley, but I have tickets to the Longhorn game tomorrow in Austin -- should we go (wife and two kids)? My wife is an alum, and was even thinking of marching with the alumni band. She'll do whatever I recommend, but I feel like I am overreacting. Any thoughts, Texans?

Dear UT Community,
I wanted to share this information with you as soon as possible. On October 13, a University of Texas at Austin student flew on Frontier Airlines Flight 1143, on which a health care worker who has tested positive for Ebola also was a passenger. The student was not seated in the zone of concern on the plane, is not showing any symptoms, is monitoring body temperature, and is in daily contact with health officials, according to recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The student has been fully compliant beyond the CDC recommendations for possible Ebola exposure.
Health officials do not believe there is any health risk to campus at this time. However, in an abundance of caution, the student, who lives in a private residence, is staying home from class and away from campus activities. The university supports this decision and is providing academic and other resources that the student needs.
As president and as the parent of a current UT student, I want you to know that the safety of our students, faculty, and staff always comes first. We are working with city, state, and federal officials to monitor the situation and follow best practices. For specific information about the Ebola Virus please visit the CDC website.
Thank you,
Bill Powers, President
The University of Texas at Austin

My daughter who works as a large hotel in downtown Dallas said that corporate is sending in a team to train hotel management on how to handle a "pandemic situation". They also have a special code in their reservation system for people who want to CXL rooms due to fear of Ebola in Dallas.
