hf Thanks for this post. I live near Dallas, have noticed a bit of a run on non perishables and water, but nothing untoward yet. The sterilization process here, regarding this guy's trail & possible affectees seems to be a joke. Just watched a contractor in front of his girlfriend's apartment hosing down a place where he puked, right into the sewer. Wheeee!

HOLY SHAZ that is so fucking lame! WTF is with that!
 Quoting: Zcat

There were pics of it on WFAA! Dude wasn't even wearing any protective gear. Even worse there's some lady standing like 5 feet away watching him spray it! Bleccchhh!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12630340

They were showing three young women, no idea who they were, standing outside on the sidewalk - like nothing was going on.

These people are truly insane!

Farmers branch here, just north of dallas. All seems fine here, no panic.
I am to my surprise hearing some light chatter in public about ebola, people have lots of questions. I work closely with dallas police department ( not an employee) and i have talked with several police officers that are freaked out big time.

Yea lets see what they say when they get their first unit on ward. People should be alert, not crazy panic, but alert and cautious more then ever on safe handling precautions.
 Quoting: Zcat

I agree.

The funny thing is it seems the most panic is from people outside of Texas. People here seem to be handling it really well. Cautious and concerned, but not panicked.

Valley Ranch here. Resigned from DPD, still contacts there. Also, former academy classmate is now with Dallas Fire.

Trying to get some info on something I heard. Problem is won't know until I talk to one of them in person, won't talk about it via phone, txt, or email.

Will be back when I hear.
In every operation, whether planning it or executing it, you can never count on luck; but you have to accept it, and recognize it when it’s there.

LOL...I love it.

If there is any silver lining to this whole Ebola thing, we probably won't have to worry about out southern border much longer. All they need to do is post a sign reading, Welcome to Texas - Ebola Hot Zone" and most of those folks will turn right back around.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56411813

That makes NO sense. Something is way OFF with a lot of things that are being reported, including that. There is no way in hell they would go in there unprotected. The health director? Give me a break.

So why the BS story then? To scare the hell out of everyone.

Hi everyone! I live in the Lake Highlands area, about 10 minutes from patient 0. I was at the local Walmart today, but was unable to buy hand sanitizer, they were out. I went to the post office, where all of the employees were wearing latex gloves. I then received a call from Wallace Elementary stating that three of the kids were not in school because of exposure to ebola virus.

Pretty scary around here.
