I'm up in Plano, all is well so far. I work with tons of ER nurses and they aren't too worried about it.

Yea lets see what they say when they get their first unit on ward. People should be alert, not crazy panic, but alert and cautious more then ever on safe handling precautions.
 Quoting: Zcat

It's safer at the hospital than it is in public. Much, much cleaner in a hospital and they clean not stop all day every day.

Actually, you are wrong.

Hi everyone! I live in the Lake Highlands area, about 10 minutes from patient 0. I was at the local Walmart today, but was unable to buy hand sanitizer, they were out. I went to the post office, where all of the employees were wearing latex gloves. I then received a call from Wallace Elementary stating that three of the kids were not in school because of exposure to ebola virus.

Pretty scary around here.

People at the post office were wearing gloves?

Is this being done at all facilities?

So what about the general populace receiving mail?

The State Fair of Texas has initiated its weather safety program, and all guests are now taking shelter inside permanent buildings.

Additionally, all DART rail operations are suspended, and several traffic jams have been reported.

Oncor is reporting that more than 125,000 North Texans are currently without power.

On what basis? I've worked in healthcare for 15 years. The handles, rails, door knobs, etc... at your home or work place are much nastier than those at a hospital.
 Quoting: fooz

Sigh....

Maybe you don't see my way...

Lots of sick people with all kinds of crap coming to the hospital getting infections of all kinds from each other...

The risk is there to get anything when having surgery of any type...

Shit, just doing a routine arthroscopic knee surgery can give you infection... [link to sports.espn.go.com]

The reason we get sick is vitamin D deficiency.... Something doctors and nurses are retarded at that stuff...

Houston Texas here.

My concerns are that the State Fair is currently being held in Dallas as well as this weekends football game. Houston Texans at Dallas Cowboys.

All these people from ALL over congregating in the same place.

Update at 5:50 p.m.: From Morgan Lyons, DART spokesman, an update on restoring rail service: “Storm damage caused by downed trees and power lines is slowing the restoration of DART Rail. Bus shuttles are being set up for Blue Line customers between Cedars and Illinois stations A bus shuttle will be used for Red Line customers between Cedars and Tyler/Vernon stations. Blue Line trains are resuming operations between LBJ Skillman and Rowlett stations. The Orange Line is open between DFW Airport and Victory stations. The Green Line is open, however Green and Orange line trains will be delayed, especially through downtown, where all four lines share tracks.”
