Am I worrying too much? [A fear-induced panic symptoms thread]
I have been following Ebola news for over a month now.
I have never been so concerned as I am now.

This morning I woke up super early for the eclipse. I took a psychedelic substance in order to "enhance" the experience of viewing said eclipse this morning.

In the hours following the eclipse (after reading headlines about a certain person dying during the eclipse), I have experienced what I am calling "psychedelic-enhanced paranoid-psychosomatic disease perception"

Bullshit sounding thing. And it is. But it really has been fucking with me.

The seemingly "physical" symptoms that have manifested all day today are really worrisome.

I don't know what I am trying to accomplish by posting this.

Maybe to see if other people are giving themselves panic-induced symptoms without drugs. I don't know.

I'm sorry.

Re: Am I worrying too much? [A fear-induced panic symptoms thread]
the "physical symptoms" I am referring to:

periodic hot-flashes/fever-flashes

a sort of burning sensation in the veins/arteries in the neck, back of the head, shoulders, that general area (and the specific feeling/sense that that burning is a foreign intrusion of the immune system)

The rest of the symptoms are not perceived as physical, but contribute to the physical sensations, which are:

The inability to divert psychic attention from fear-inducing stimulus regarding Ebole

The overwhelming urge to discuss the Ebola "threat" with friends/family

Re: Am I worrying too much? [A fear-induced panic symptoms thread]
I just spent 45 minutes at the 7/11 across the street from my house talking to my muslim buddy that works there.
(Only call him my buddy because he works all the overnight shifts and I always have tended to go there during those shifts, so we talk a lot basically.)

I ended up informing him about a few things regarding Ebola, and he told me a lot of things about his personal muslim beliefs (the discussion strayed toward religion/faith after the topic of fear of death from Ebola).

I don't know why/if any of this is important at all.

My uncle who works for NASA told me that ISIS has been mixing it with certain "psychedelic substances".

Sorry dude. You're fucked.

Even though I know this is bullshit, I wish it were a certainty.

That way I could stop irrationally worrying about contracting it and get on to accepting certain death.

I feel sorry for the guy at 711 who not only works a shitty job, but also is compelled to entertain the local drug addicts.

Not that it was an excuse. It was more of an explanation as to how one could spend almost an hour at a 7/11 talking to the clerk.

Believe me, I am grateful for everything that comes my way.

The tenant below my apartment offered me free yoga classes today. I am so psyched to start that tomorrow

Actually, it is he that sparks conversation.

But I won't entertain this thought further because of your assessment of "drug addict" and "psychedelic" having any sort of relation.

Thanks anyway

In no way do I disagree.

But I think the phenomenon important enough to be noted.

This is the problem I am facing though.

When it happens matters absolutely nothing to me.

I have been living for the past couple of years as though I were already dead, but too lazy or afraid to do the work of dying.

Like a lot of us, I am sure, I have hoped for some sort of doom which involves the possibility of a swift and relatively painless death (environmental, war, whatever), yet I had never even calculated the risk of the possibility of such a pandemic that is occurring in the US.

how can you even retain such a negative view of reality through the experiences with psychedelics

weren't you paying attention? didn't you learn anything?

Psychedelics by-and-large are not 100% pure and godly experiences, and are HIGHLY subject to the stimulus one is subjected to during the experience.

Bad trips are a real thing.

To put the experience in terms of -10 -- 0 -- +10:

During the eclipse and peak, I was at about a +7.

I felt so close to "god".

After the moon set, and I came inside and started exploring the doom-laden internet, this level immediately shot down to a -8 and wavered from -8 to -2 for several hours.

Yes, these numbers are incredibly relative terms, but they are the closest I can get to describing the feeling.

doesn't that experience in itself tell you some very important things about reality?

like, reality itself is completely flexible based on your mental and emotional state, and it can be EASILY changed?

Re: Am I worrying too much? [A fear-induced panic symptoms thread]
I very rarely get high but I was watching the BP oil spill live feed on TV while high and I cannot express in words the HORROR that I felt, such an incredible profound horror. All that oil gushing and gushing and they had no way to turn it off, how can we be such fuckwits? It was a really awful profound feeling

That memory is probably always going to be there as a potent memory for me. I think the being high really brought me in tune with my feeling and unfortunately it was a pretty negtive feeling. Sounds like the same thing happened with you and ebola.

The good news is it's just a memory, an emotional memory but not like I go around feeling that horror all the time. It faded substantially within a few days.

You will probably start feeling better in a little while.
