Plus if CDC ordered that many HAZMAT suits, there would be panic and those suits would be looted before they even left the warehouses.

At this point we're either already dead, or it's all nothing.

I really don't see a third option.

Get out of the cities.

And what then?

You'll either catch it later, or be unable to approach another human being for the rest of your life.

You're better off where survivors can eventually give each other mutual support.

Imagine you are a incompetent government agency that has absolutely no clue on how to contain a real threat and you are just trying to offset public panic, and you yourself have no clue.

Imagine patient 1 becomes patient 20 in one city alone.

Imagine you have been pushing pens on paper since college and you don't even know how to change a tire on a car.

Imagine that nice government paycheck not ever coming again, because you were protected by the biggest government in the history for them.

Imagine your world come crashing down.

No. Quarantine has always proved effective. Since the first outbreak of Ebola, everyone has always known that it will burn itself out in time because it kills so quickly, and that's it flaw.

I guess we don't live in that world now. Just let it spread and we will try to save everyone.

Even competent and fully trained, if this is the honest to god BSL4 Ebola, they would have had to have the BSL4 equipment in place and in use weeks ago. They never stood a snowball's chance in Hell.

Look at historical outbreaks.

Can you even imagine a way it would even be possible to contain a BSL4 in the open? You can't.

You can isolate yourself, yes, but you'd might as well stay there, because you could never risk approaching the remaining 20% of humanity.

What's to stop lone survivors from keeping the infection alive over generations while you're in hiding, only to get infected when you finally return from the woods?

What about the animals? Hope you can go vegan too.

That's the best part of it...most of them live in cities and will stay there...no matter what. Sarah Silverman ain't buggin out I can bet. Neither will any other of that type of 'city or die' group which is most of what I lived around in cities I lived in.

How many of us in the USA has any idea that these LEVEL 4 suits and respirators were not readily available for use by healthcare workers in case of something like this. Hell, all that we have seen done for years and years is hospitals practicing for disasters the police and fire and cities. WHY are there none of these respirators and suits? Medical anything is so expensive most of us don't even get our teeth examined and cleaned anymore and we figured...the government...medical...BIO level 2,3, 4 ...oh they got that shit. The movies all show it. Hey, there is our problem. WE ASSUMED from so much propaganda that all of this was in the bag. It scared us how much they had at the ready to snatch us and put us away and experiment on us if needed. Come to find out....THEY DON'T HAVE ANYTHING much at all. WOW! THIS is almost a WORSE case scenario. I have been contemplating for years now that TPTB system is really a giant self perpetuating octopus with zillions of arms and NO HEAD. It just keeps on going and no one is at the helm of this ship. NO real captain driving it all. This shows me the reality of that horrible thought. Buckle up people. We aren't in Kansas anymore. Heck we aren't even close to Kansas.

Thanks for doing the 'footwork' on this issue and finding the information in print Emerald.

All of the nurses I work with have been talking about this for months now, and figured it was aerosolized. There just isn't any other logical explanation.

Yes, I am a nurse too...but there is no way I would do direct or even indirect care with the information and protocols we currently have.

Our system is in no way, shape, or form, ready to handle this.

In order for this to be contained, we are talking about isolation wards and outfits/procedures that we do not have, nor can likely afford for all hospitals across the nation. The training alone would be cumbersome for our system.

What in the body carries excrement but the miles of pipeline called the colon? If I had to describe the game of football, I would not be wrong if I described it as a game in which two teams of men attempt to get a brown turd-shaped ball into eachother's end-zone....and that the teams are made up of men called backs. That is sodomy and homosexuality given to you under the guise of entertainment.

2) "Ward 86" at SF General Hospital
Renown for its work on AIDS in the early days of HIV. A time when almost all Aids patients were homosexual men and hemophiliacs who had received tainted blood given by homosexual men.
Therefore, heavily tied to the practice of sodomy. Sodomy they still tell us is a way by which HIV transmits easily....Fast forward three decades and many in the heterosexual community have adopted sodomy into their sexual practices.

8 years 6 months after construction began....

So whilst the holly wood news pulpit is telling you one thing - that it is airborne .....their other pulpit arm is telling you that it's an explosive set in bowels and semen.....

So I ask you all to consider that in reality it may never be airborne at all - that if new cases start popping up all over that, that in fact, the spread is being accomplished via another route....but if it's seen as airborne the masses will accept quarantine and isolation...agenda 21 isolated communities etc...and the entire time they have accomplished through deception...

A year or so ago my relative started bleeding out from the colon...and the doctor has said that she picked up a bacteria of some sort like "ecoli" that periodically causes hemorrhaging from the rectum....and my relative knows when it first occurred ....after having visited a public restaurant's buffet...apparently this is happening to more and more people....Do not let the realisation pass you by that destroyers destroy...that men all over this world create their own fortunes on drugs and medicine...and need patients to get that fortune....

Please, buying the lie that it's airborne blinds you to looking for other origins. We don't have a union in my state, but most of the nurses I work with have critical thinking skills and we all agree there is no way this stuff isn't aerosolized. I have already told my bosses unless I'm covered with Tyvek, using a PAPR and have someone spray me down with bleach twice, my ass will not be going anywhere near an ebola pt. This is nothing to play with and I will not participate. I'm over being the gung-ho ER nurse with no sense and all adrenaline.

I still want to know where Duncan's people are who were in the petri dish apartment with him. My guess is they are either dead, burnt and gone forever or somewhere in a level 4 containment center being poked and prodded to get specimens for future experiments. Either way, I want to know where they are!

I wanted to clear up a few things and address a few issues that came up overnight on this thread.

The first Ebola patients from West Africa, Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol were transported in what was in effect a BSL4 level plane. They were taken to a special containment(equivalent to a BSL4) unit hospital in Atlanta. This is an appropriate way to care for such patients and no secondary infections to my knowledge were reported.

The other Doctor was taken to the University of Nebraska, which also has an excellent bio-containment unit.

Notice the patient is moved in a plastic bubble and those caring for the patient are wearing “space suits with respirators.

These units are completely different than a regular hospital, ICU or Emergency room bed.

At last count there were only here are only 19 level 4 bio-containment beds in the whole of the United States…and four in the UK.

In the US there are 4 units geared up to handle Ebola. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center, Bethesda, Maryland, has 3 beds. Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, has 10 beds. Emory Hospital, Atlanta has 3 beds and St Patricks Hospital, Missoula has 3 beds .

“There are four places in the United States set up to handle a patient sickened by the Ebola virus, and Missoula is one of those.”
“The other U.S. sites cleared for Ebola treatment are in Bethesda, Maryland; Atlanta; and Omaha, Nebraska. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control have deployed teams of health workers to numerous sites in West Africa to slow the epidemic’s progress. U.S. military personnel have also been sent there to build hospital clinics, although Risi said those people would not be performing any care or have contact with Ebola patients.”

Contrast that with trying to take care of an Ebola patient in a regular hospital, or worse, having the patient present to the emergency room vomiting or worse, and you see the extent of the problem.

I believe this lack of the proper level of staff protection is why we have seen secondary transmissions to health care workers in Africa, in Spain and in Dallas.

We need to set up emergency units and, isolate them from regular hospital services. They need to be staffed and equipped with security, positive pressure airflow, UV light sterilizers and filters for air, and staff that is properly equipped and trained. Until we get our act together and give this virus the respect and caution that it deserves, we are going to see more problems.

Aside from those 19 beds, we are not much better off than West Africa. “Good Hygiene” won’t stop this virus or save your life if you are directly exposed. West Africa does have the advantage of a lot of sunlight, something that inactivates the Ebola virus reasonably well. The virus prefers cold, dark and dry environments. We don’t have that type of environment in North America or Europe during the winter months.

Filoviruses are relatively stable in aerosols, retain virulence after lyophilization, and can be present on contaminated surfaces for extended periods of time. This study explores the characteristics of aerosolized Sudan virus (SUDV) Boniface in non-human primates (NHP) belonging to three different species. Groups of cynomolgus macaques (cyno), rhesus macaques (rhesus), and African green monkeys (AGM) were challenged with target doses of 50 or 500 plaque-forming units (pfu) of aerosolized SUDV. Exposure to either viral dose resulted in increased body temperatures in all three NHP species beginning on days 4–5 post-exposure. Other clinical findings for all three NHP species included leukocytosis, thrombocytopenia, anorexia, dehydration, and lymphadenopathy. Disease in all of the NHPs was severe beginning on day 6 post-exposure, and all animals except one surviving rhesus macaque were euthanized by day 14.
