It just occurred to me,

I don't think there is any possible way that this global fear will ever go away, and that is the point.

More fear, and more threat comes from an invisible enemy. Ebola is a bigger fear factory than Pearl Harbor and 9/11 combined.
If this outbreak was in any small way instigated or agitated with by human intent, I can see no logical reason that they would want to let it loose on the entire world. Ebola would never, ever go away. All animals humans interact with will always have it.

Again, if human intent is involved, Ebola is an act of -- and a tool for -- World War.

If, and until, a large-scale outbreak were to occur in North America, I can see very easily how Canada, Mexico, and North America would become the North American Union.

Camps would open up, and the people that manage to avoid Ebola will be in the larger prison. Hostage to the huge shifts (and vaccinations) to take place once a huge part of the world are "fighting" the same enemy. It would most certainly require international unity/cooperation.

If Ebola is a real threat unaffected my human intent, these events are likely to occur anyway.

If it is intended to be controlled for some time and used as a tool for war (letting loose sick people in protests, foreign countries, whatever).
