The PKK is at the heart of Turkey's reluctance to allow Kurds to move freely through, and they did not want the US to supply arms to them. Kerry knows this.

The Islamic State will just seize these as spoils of war. PKK has been getting bombed by turkey last week while the State's warriors watched from afar. Kobani will fall to the superior leadership and war fighting capabilities of the Islamic State. The only reason they haven't secured the region yet is due to having to pull out every time an air strike is en route. The Kurds have been getting smashed by State infantry in the prolongued siege, allowing themselves to almost be entirely surrounded, soon the exhaustion of war will bring them to their knees.

They have mostly been shelling the region while Turkey provides air support and bombing runs on the PKK entrenched there. The Islamic State is nobodys fool.

Yes, and the US government supports the FSA opposition in order to topple Assad. Many world governments have their dirty fingers in here somewhere.

But there are many aspects to this conflict.
A few people have been monitoring this conflict, and have posted several articles and opinion pieces covering all aspects of it, in Iraq and Syria alike.
