User ID: 1149868 Germany 10/20/2014 10:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lasers now? Cool. Here is one using sound Thread: A Tractor Beam Made of Sound "The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title." Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. The woman who is not pursued sets up the doctrine that pursuit is offensive to her sex, and wants to make it a felony. No genuinely attractive woman has any such desire. - H.L. Mencken, In Defense Of Women |

(OP) User ID: 45260145 United Kingdom 10/20/2014 10:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's awesome! As the article points out, so far they have managed to create tiny tractor beams that can work at microscopic levels - but it seems this acoustic version can work on larger objects than this new laser version when they mention centimeter-sized objects as opposed to this laser's one fifth of a millimeter-sized objects. Perhaps a combination of the two could realize Wesley's science project from Star Trek TNG. |

It has nowhere near the pulling power of tractor beams envisaged in science fiction, but the first long-distance optical tractor beam has so far moved particles one fifth of a millimetre in diameter a distance of up to 20cm. [link to www.theguardian.com] You know those "dark beams" we can occasionally see the chemtrail planes following? |

Outer Limits User ID: 63185159 United States 10/20/2014 12:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Maybe they can start aiming them up into low orbit and start pushing some of the junk out of orbit? Since everything there weighs just about nothing, shouldn't be too hard to do. Or they should pull some of it down, let it burn up on decent... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62331761 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Maybe they're doing that already, as maybe that explains the Russian heavy Meteor that crashed about 1 to 2 years ago in a populated city spot in Russia. I believe it was called Chelyabinsk. Boy!, that was fun watching it clubber the Ruskies and Commi's over there. |
