China's "artificial sun" finishes first engineering adjustment

The photo taken on March 14, 2006 shows the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) (formerly HT-7U), which is also known as "artificial sun". The EAST, the world's first all-superconducting Tokamak designed and developed by China, has completed successfully its first engineering adjustment, which lays groundwork for its operation and state appraisal by the end of the year.
