It's the filters and added chemicals that kill you. I smoke Camel non-filtered and ryo. A pack last me 3 or 4 days. I take a few hits and cut the cherry off. Smoke a real cig and you won't be chain smoking. People chain smoking lights are screwed. That fire proof shit is lame though.

That doesn't excuse the huge push to get rid of ecigs etc. If they wanted people to REALLY stop for their health and others, they wouldn't ban ecigs. I know tons of people who quite smoking ecigs. Some went back to smoking after the backlash against ecigs.

okay...for the ones that just in the "okay so it's good to smoke cigarets..finally I have an excuse to keep with bad habits"

Beside tobacco has antiparrasite activity, it can help bosting responses of your lungs in critical situations by producing mucus and also its ati-hemorragic qualitis

smoking (chemical or not) isn't free of risk

cancer need different elements to start

chemical load / virus, fungus etc/ stress

the high temperature of smoke are carcinogenic
substances in tobacco increase cellular replication
while reducing angiogenesis

so you get a load of chemicals in a oxigen poor environment, with cellular replication agents and heat. Low vitamins...especially vit C

that will give you cancer

in the other hands in critical situation with a hemorragic fever tobacco extracts administration trough vaporization or intravenous could save your life

now put down your malboro and pick some acetylcysteine

when ebola hit you can use a narghile

My parents chained smoked in a closed house with no ventilation . I am a nicotine based life form , my fathers sperm was probably loaded with nicotine and my mothers eggs as well .

I remember my first breath of fresh air when I was born and how hard it was on me until my parents rushed me home in the car with all the windows rolled up chain smoking and then holding my breath until they rushed me into the smoke filled chamber we called home , oh , the relief of it .

Over the years I learned to breath regular air but it was very painful . Fact is I spent to much time working in it and now I have emphysema from it , only a smoke every ten minutes or so gives me any relief from it at all .

The cigs are just like the food and water full of poison. Smoke natural tobacco without the chemicals...all is fine. Make sure you get your vitamins and minerals from sources other than food (food is processed and soil is depleted).

Cigarettes have been a health trash can for years for the accepted medical establishment. Smoking causes every cancer and every thing bad. Lung cancer is totally from smoking they say. Cigarettes have been used to cover up the lung cancer exploding epidemic from nuclear fallout in our atmosphere that most of us now were born into. The added chemicals as most are saying means nothing to them. It is just the nicotine. How silly. Doctors treat you like an undeserving pitbill who bit a child if you smoke.

Here is a link to one study if you want to get knee deep into the potential physiological effects of nicotine...and no, I'm not talking about "smoking", I'm talking about just nicotine. If you want, just skip all the way down to the summary and perspective section at the end. It makes no claims either way but it does address nicotine as a molecule of interest for possible therapeutic value.

Well, I suspect there are "lurkers" that just might find this topic to be interesting and just might check it out...you never know. I've always been interested in natural non-patentable molecules that just might have beneficial effects. Another one I have always found a bit fascinating is the sugar alcohol zylitol for its effects on the prevention of bacterial biofilm...most notably plaque formation. Heck, Trident even makes note of studies supporting this claim on the back of packs of gum that contain zylitol. It has also been investigated as a treatment for chronic wounds, such as in the case of persistent wounds in people with type 1 diabetes. Additionally, it is also used as a treatment for children with chronic ear infections...and it is just a dumb old sugar alcohol. I read too much...lol!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18747138

Very interesting info about zylitol! Will read more about this & add some to med stash.

One caution--zylitol is fatal for dogs. Just 3 or 4 pieces of gum will cause quick organ failure in an average size dog. My family members are careless about leaving stuff scattered around (no small children to worry about) but I have successfully threatened them with dire harm if they leave zylitol gum anywhere in dog reach.

A lot of you know that I am a nurse. 2 months ago, I get a call from a former employer, Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, asking if I'd like to come back to work there.

Seems they are having a hard time with staff after going nicotine-free. Now I don't mean no smoking on campus, what we are talking about here is they are drug screening for cotinine (nicotine). I don't smoke, but this means no smoking on your day off, no nicotine patch, no nicotine gum, nada.

In 2009, Barnes Hospital forced all the employees to take flu shots. Keep in mind, the CEO of Barnes is on the St. Louis Branch of the Federal Reserve, and we know how much concern those guys have regarding our well-being. Well, I quit because of the flu shot deal, now they say if I come back (no flu shot) they will reinstate my previous hours worked toward retirement. The recruiter sounded desperate.

Add to this the current efforts to get rid of e-cigarettes.Here's an article about how nicotine is used to make ZMAPP. [link to conservativebyte.com]

They have a statement on their web page that they won't hire anyone who uses nicotine, but this doesn't apply to their Illinois facilities, only Missouri. I'll post a smilie once it gets approved.

Second hand smoke causing cancer is a likely myth. It very likely is from all the nuke bombs set off back when.
This generation is having to deal with Chernoybl (my niece been fighting lymphoma since she was 19, was in Germany as baby)and Fuku. The WHO could not find studies to support the second hand smoke myth! They tried, but found people exposed had fewer allergy problems, while those never exposed had many allergies. I,personally, can vouch for this. My husband smoked most of his life and as soon as he tried to quit, his immune systerm went haywire! He had more problems breathing, sneezing, coughing, eyes watering than I have seen in over 20 years. So, he now has a few cigs a day to keep the allergies at bay. I guess the smoke desensitizes him.
