My parents chained smoked in a closed house with no ventilation . I am a nicotine based life form , my fathers sperm was probably loaded with nicotine and my mothers eggs as well .

I remember my first breath of fresh air when I was born and how hard it was on me until my parents rushed me home in the car with all the windows rolled up chain smoking and then holding my breath until they rushed me into the smoke filled chamber we called home , oh , the relief of it .

Over the years I learned to breath regular air but it was very painful . Fact is I spent to much time working in it and now I have emphysema from it , only a smoke every ten minutes or so gives me any relief from it at all .

It makes perfect sense! The Hospital wont hire staff that smokes cigarettes because Nicotine is a cure to Ebola and they want their staff to contract Ebola and die!

This has nothing to do with all of the evidence that smoking and nicotine is bad for your health.

I'm going to start smoking today!

Read again. Not just cigarettes any kind of nicotine. Which would eliminate me and my 4mg nicotine gum. Tell me. What the fuck business is it of my employer if I chew nicotine gum?

Re: Nicotine and Ebola, There may be something to it.
Years ago the government wanted everyone to smoke because they made lots of money from cigarette tax.

In the late 80's they declared war on cigarettes and started banning smoking inside most buildings. Fast forward to today and you can't smoke anywhere.

We all know that the government doesn't give a crap about any of us so why would they declare war on tobacco when they collect millions in tax revenue from smokers?

If you believe the studies, cigarettes should kill off most smokers before they have a chance to collect social security, so the government wins by not having to pay out any SS money.

Here is the irony of it all, lots of smokers today are healthier than their non-smoking counter parts. Why? Because smokers get plenty of exercise walking around trying to find a place to smoke. Smokers stand outside in the sun and get their daily dose of vitamin D. Smokers interact and talk to other smokers while they are huddled together in designated smoking areas instead of sitting alone with their face in an I-phone.

Another thing that I don't understand is if smoking deadly, why are so many states getting on the legalize pot band wagon? I guess second hand pot smoke is better for you than tobacco smoke...or at least that is what they want the people to believe.

another do

Stop asking such silly questions and just accept that China is the world's biggest tobacco produce.

But, with Ebola on the horizon, surprisingly, they have stepped up their own stop smoking campaign.

I am pretty sure that they have only found that they can grow the vaccine faster because they have found a way to trick the plant into supplying the nutrients in the same way eggs would...just faster.
I am pretty sure it isn't the nicotine or any other part of the tobacco plant that was relevant- just it's ability to grow the medium quicker than any current method
at least that was the info they were talking about in the newspaper article about the Canadian company that was also working on it

I have seen some silly things but this is silly. I smoked for 35 years and finally quit after going cold turkey three years ago. I can run almost ten miles now. Before I quit, I could barely breathe.

I mean, I believe some things that most people would label crazy, but I'm not buying that smoking helps.

Educate yourself friends. All they are doing is infecting the living plant, it produces something that heals humans. No way dead tobacco is going to help you.

I smoke... but I'm not to sure that the push to get everyone to quit is because there is something good. I'm going to guess that it's because of the health related costs when we're all on single payer.

Either way, smoke up.

Let's think this through, critically. If Nicotine is what helps make ZMAPP, it does so because Nicotine speeds up the replication process of the virus.

Having said that, do you think speeding up the replication process of Ebola in your lungs is really a good thing? I mean, please vape if that's what you want to do. Smoke 3 packs of smokes a day if that's what you want to do.

But FFS think of your family too. Nothing like watching someone on their death bed dying from smoking.

The Boomers is the group that younger people have been TAUGHT to hate even though they don't even know who they are...we all blame our parents of course -the boomers blame their parents and so on and so on...HALF of Congress is over 65 I think!

Smokers here.
Haven't a clue why the powers that be want us to quit smoking, they seem to want us dead so why bother...

That being said. They are doing serious genetic modification to the spleen cells of infected mice and then more modification and more....
Then a GMO tobacco plant purifies the antibodies they're looking for... That is at least a very simple explanation of how zmapp is made.

Don't think nicotine cures ebola. It's like the egg in flu vaccine... The breeder of the cure.

But what the fuck do I know. Smoke them if you got them. Have a good day.

okay...for the ones that just in the "okay so it's good to smoke cigarets..finally I have an excuse to keep with bad habits"

Beside tobacco has antiparrasite activity, it can help bosting responses of your lungs in critical situations by producing mucus and also its ati-hemorragic qualitis

smoking (chemical or not) isn't free of risk

cancer need different elements to start

chemical load / virus, fungus etc/ stress

the high temperature of smoke are carcinogenic
substances in tobacco increase cellular replication
while reducing angiogenesis

so you get a load of chemicals in a oxigen poor environment, with cellular replication agents and heat. Low vitamins...especially vit C

that will give you cancer

in the other hands in critical situation with a hemorragic fever tobacco extracts administration trough vaporization or intravenous could save your life

now put down your malboro and pick some acetylcysteine

when ebola hit you can use a narghile
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 64670315

Well Lookee here:
A google of acetylcysteine:

Reason for the Shortage

American Regent has acetylcysteine inhalation on shortage due to manufacturing delays.
Roxane Labs discontinued acetylcysteine inhalation solution in April 2014. The product had previously been on shortage due to manufacturing delays.
Hospira has acetylcysteine inhalation solution on shortage due to manufacturing delay.
Fresenius Kabi (formerly APP) states the reason for the shortage was increased demand.

Re: Nicotine and Ebola, There may be something to it.
Nicotine, the Insular Cortex and Empathy

A couple of very interesting papers have come to my attention recently. The first one was published very recently in Clinical Endocrinology where they found that those who quit smoking had a 6-fold increase risk for autoimmune thyroid problems. There seems to be a complex interaction between smoking and the immune system in that the authors of the paper were speculating that “transition from current to ex-smoker may lead to limitation in activity, to chronic health conditions, to physical and psychological symptoms and to a higher hospital admissions“. Smoking is associated with a low prevalence of thyroid auto-antibodies, and autoimmune thyroid problems is a huge problem in the world today.

The second paper is very fascinating, considering that anti-smoking activists tend to be intolerant and judgmental Authoritarian Follower types. I’m going to quote some excerpts here:

Does insular stroke disrupt the self-medication effects of nicotine?

This paper explores the relationship between insular stroke and the disruption of tobacco use. A functional analysis of the role of the insula in maintaining homeostasis suggests that the insula monitors hypoxia and applies dyspnea to motivate the individual to regulate breathing. From its’ early usage, nicotine has been used to treat respiratory disorders. It increases respiratory drive, promoting better breathing. Insular stroke likely interferes with this self-regulation. A new self-medication model is proposed for tobacco use. The effect on public policy is discussed.

What is described as ‘‘craving” for nicotine may be no more than chronic mild dyspnea or air hunger.
A stroke in the right insular cortex reduces the sensitivity to the perception of dyspnea [3]. These stroke patients would not be aware of their hypoxic state, and not motivated to continue treatment with nicotine. The apparently functional stroke patient will get lots of positive feedback from health care workers. But, the human system is still in serious trouble.

A new study looked at whether smoking or obesity takes more years off a person's life and some may find the results surprising.

Researchers from the National Cancer Institute found that smokers actually live longer on average, than people dealing with obesity. They compared normal weight smokers to extremely obese non-smokers and found that obesity shortens life spans more than smoking.

Re: Nicotine and Ebola, There may be something to it.
I don't know what to believe.

Been a smoker for a long time and have had a few instances of quitting for short periods (months at a time).

What I notice when I quit is that I usually get sick within a few days or a week of quitting. I have been told that its my body expelling toxins or being able to expel the toxins because smoking supresses your bodies ability to expel these toxins.

As with most addictions when you are "using" it brings a level of calm for the moment. I suppose its why, when people get stressed out they want to light up and it helps psychologically at least to calm them down. Much like a stiff drink might work after a rough day.

Smoking smells terrible and I really notice it once I have stopped for a couple of weeks. Especially if you smoke in your car.

I used to smoke in the house and it creates a yellow stain on everything not to mention the awful stale smell. Fortunately when I moved into the current house I have never smoked inside.

Not sure if its quite as bad as cat pee, the previous owners had cats and they had their litter in the basement. Despite cleaning the floor several times including the use of ammonia , bleach and other heavy cleaners.... We can still smell once and a while... thank god its rare that we can smell it.

1. Many lung cancers are metastasized from other sites in the body. So technically lung cancers will be categorized from their original origin. Whether or not smoking increases these cancers to spread to the lungs is an important question.

2. Maybe the hospital requires nicotine free employees because many many hirees may not disclose they smoke and drug test which may include nicotine monitoring is the only way to get to the truth. Simple explanation...

I don't plan on stopping smoking anytime soon..My father has smoked since he was 15 and is now 74 and has NEVER had any health problems nor is he on any medication.

I'm 46 and have smoked off and on since I was 17.When people hear I have 2 children that are 26 and 28 they can't believe it and say I don't look old enough to have children that age and most people think me to be in my 20's or 30's. But...I only smoke about 1/2 pack a day or less, usually a pack will last me 2-3 days.
