Funny how you ask for feedback yet when people give said feedback you shoot them don't and make it more of a confrontation proving your ideas correct rather then considering their feedback. Smells like a small time guy trying to use some free marketing to a targeted audience. I can tell you why you are small time(look in mirror)

The feedback provided was naive. Should I pretend it was not? I answered honestly. If feelings were hurt, go to your momma. She can make it feel better. Respond with science or logic, and I am all ears.

Best move is towards the Arctic or Antarctic...the closer you are to the poles, the longer fresh water will be readily available.

I keep 14 gallons of clean water on hand at all times. I am constantly cycling through it and adding to it. I got a Big Berkey about three years ago and it has been amazing. I live near new orleans so there are always "boil alerts" because of our wonderful water treatment here. And the fracking has gotten so bad here people's tap water is flammable.

Creepy thing is they were fracking for nearly a year in secret and it only came out because it was leaked.

How high can this pump? Could it be used to transfer water up to a tower-mounted gravity tank?

not very high. I have gotten 7 feet with decent flow. I know we get 25 gallons an hour at 4' head.

If you purpose is to pump to a height with low voltage, you want a diaphragm pump, probably.

well this is how water was stored in greek island thousand years ago and still now...

Not using solar pannels obviously but airmill to bring water on top of the island for later use.

Re: Wanna bug-in or out? You're gonna need water.
Some quick info from someone who is 'tapped into' the prepper community...

The type of gear my company builds is oriented towards preppers, military, first responders, HAMs, and other folks who need to be prepared for the unexpected.

As of yesterday, I have suspended sales of some of our equipment that is less 'prepper' oriented, because we are getting hit with folks who seem to be preparing to shelter in place or bug out (power supplies, solar gear, etc.).

I understand that I am selling stuff, and this might appear to be an attempt to do so. I can only say that my company is small by most standards, and we are struggling to meet the demand from folks that are prepping HARD, in just the last two months or so. Wait times on most of our gear is now 14 days after payment. I have had to update the website saying that all orders are built in the order received, so people cannot pay to jump in line.

Even though we are jammed, today I launched a device that has been in R&D for a while... we are calling it the WaterBoy. I think it can help a lot of folks in the times ahead, so I fast-tracked the R&D and have committed to building them even though we are swamped...

Here is a 60 second time-lapse of the system:

Here is the same time-lapse plus me explaining the system:

I just want to give GLP'ers a heads up. Folks are prepping. We have also seen an increase in sales of our HAM radio gear, as well as some of the hardened battery systems that are targeted towards disaster relief and first-responders...

I'd love feedback or opinions about the WaterBoy. It is very innovative, and we are just scratching the surface of the applications... I honestly hope that it can help people be more capable and healthy as we move towards whatever is coming.

OP, this is a great idea. I see this post as WAY more information sharing than advertising. Thanks for that. I think I could make one of these.

If you don't mind my asking, how would you get the initial gravity feed from a source such as the river/stream you made this for?

That's simple, cover the pool to prevent evaporation and contamination, and boil any water you plan to drink.

For simple water purification, buy yourself some clear vinyl plastic tubing, and use a small piece of pine branch for a filter inside the tubing.

It could be done with a pump and bucket set 7 feet above each other. For a 21 foot water tower you would need 3 pumps.

Your biggest problem is your water source.

I'm not sure I would want to be dependent upon a bunch of little water fountain pumps for my water supply though.

To the post above,

I don't know what a water fountain pump is, but we boaters rely on bilge pumps to keep our boats from sinking. That's what I would use in this set-up.
