I realize this is a serious issue but I just love the commonalities of life, they are so funny!

Does she even know your name?

So, this happens all the time. Yesterday while I was gone to the store, she came over here with a shovel and dug up my brand new, blooming hibiscus! I walked over there this morning, and lo and behold, it is planted in her yard.

Any suggestions?

Have you asked her why she does it? If you are feeling extra curious get a plant and then take it over to her as a gift...then ask her if she would please stop taking your plants. Or, maybe even offer to help her get some plants and plant them with her. Of course, these are just ideas. If she is just being nasty you will figure that out quickly...but you should also figure out if she is just extremely lonely or if she has dementia. It is so hard to tell what is going on, but flying off the handle too quickly might cause harm where if you knew the truth it would change everything. Re: My neighbor lady thieves my plants. What to do?
In that way you have done just exactly what she did to you, something sneaky with no proof who did it. Except what she did was illegal, and what you will do won't be. You can just say you must have dropped your broken shovel over there. And you can say you can't understand how your bush just disappeared, but it did. Maybe that's how your shovel got broken. Then you could ask her if she ever sees whoever is taking your plants, would she please report it to you and the cops right away? Tell her because that's what you're going to do. Watch very carefully for the their and then make sure to get the police involved. That should make her secretly crap her pants.

Put some parasites on a couple plants and leave them in a area where she can easily get to them

Walk over to her house in broad daylight. Have some pleasantries. Then as you are leaving, walk over to YOUR plant and dig it up and carry it away.

Then get a game camera and aim it at your garden.

Give her tea and scones, and as I am leaving just uproot the little hibiscus fellow. Don't turn around.... just keep walking... hahahaaa

 Quoting: WishinForTheMission

These are shills now, coming out to try to make what I have said sound ridiculous. But I know the simplest things work for covert harrassments. They use all kinds of techniques. But the things that look and seem the most innocuous are often what can really fuck you up, so watch out. They will mix in different psych strategies, such as knowing you are a " good person" -- and counting on you giving her the benefit of the doubt and trying to be nice. If you are like that, then you are probably not aware enough to pay close attention to what is really going on. That is built in to the strategy.

The number one tips for you are:
1. The normal, decent rules of society do not apply
2. Do not confront the woman
3. Never do anything illegal, but you CAN do tricks that are legal to catch the fucks.

The upshot of being a victim is you become hyper vigilant and develop major trust issues. But if you figure things out, it will stop if they figure out that you figured it out. I outed some of the creeps that were bothering me by using Facebook but wouldn't recommend that, I do not EVER use Facebook now. It is a maze of traps. I was being watched by a little old lady realtor who was threatened by me because I recognized that she was violating the HOA by laws by scooping up all the deals in the complex for herself. I played stupid and broadcast on FB (in a happy, friendly tone) what a SUCCESSFUL realtor she was and how if you live in our complex you can count on her to sell your place. She doesn't bother me any more.

I could tell a million more stories about how I have stood my ground where I live, even until the visible signs of child abuse here finally disappeared.

What else is going on in your neighborhood? These child abuse/traffickers watch people in the hood who aren't a part of their operations and they will start in on you even if they only suspect, but don't have proof, that you know anything.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61855235

I am just a "good person", and I do not really bother anyone at all. I keep to myself. hf
 Quoting: WishinForTheMission

That's what I thought about myself, until the troubles like this erupted in my life, and then I found out about myself and my secret victim status. MK

She is not your friend - She is a toxic control freak and probably sees you as weak and or vulnerable.

First - I would go knock on her door and ask her, "if you are my friend why are you stealing my plants ?" She will probably deny it even though it is obvious.

Then tell her if she doesnt stop you will have her arrested.

Toxic people are very confusing and sometimes had to understand but everything they do is to feed their own miserable and deflated Egos.

Stealing your plants gives her power.

They get close to you first by being friendly so they can learn what you hate and start doing that to you. I think some of these people are also victims who are being manipulated into going after targets. They made my mother into one of these "twisted sisters". It changed her personality.

It starts with weird stuff. It gets weirder and weirder. Because I started researching thesehenomena, I was attacked worse and worse. I am not sure what happened because they finally took the pressure off me. Now I have different pressures. I couldn't get a job for about 5 years. Now I have one again and it is extremely stressful. They can make you unemployed or give you a job that will kill you.

Motion detecting sprinklers. She wanders onto your yard she gets the hose. If she asks why your sprinklers are always on, no doubt having been thoroughly soaked several times, tell her you have a house guest who is CONVINCED you are being robbed and turns the sprinklers to deter intruders.

You could REALLY mess with her head and help her realize she is a theif without actually calling her one. Chances are she'd never want to meet this house guest, too afraid she might be identified.

Re: My neighbor lady thieves my plants. What to do?
we have some illegals in the neighborhood, and all of them are related; and there is a lot of infighting because apparently the patriarch of the group is a thief and just takes 'what he wants' regardless of who it belonged to.

the thief is an old man and lives next door to us out in the country. we had been on really good terms and had given his family extra plants and veggies from our gardens, and even the nice grass we dug up to add extra garden beds.

every morning i watched him planting more and more of the nice lawn grass from my kitchen window. after several weeks of this, a neighbor on the other side pointed out that our 'lawn was missing' LOL seriously. this old man had been digging up a wheelbarrow full of 'lawn' at the crack of dawn every morning from our yard, and covering the bald spots with leaves. it wasn't until we mowed that we realized we were mowing DIRT.

we have game cameras everywhere but did not feel the need to put them where the stolen grass was located; so we relocated cameras, focusing one on the old thief's house from our kitchen window so that he couldn't fart without detection.

we already had NO TRESPASSING SIGNS in english so hand painted a bunch in spanish that read 'cameras are watching you' and 'we have told police' and 'we know you are a thief.' a quick background check on the family indicated several of them have warrants, so we added 'POLICE LOOKING FOR ______' and these signs line the property between us and the thief.

the neighbor on the other side then had whole beds of plants disappear, and they called in the local constable that lives down the street. it was so funny! he contacted the local sheriff and everybody thought it was a joke that somebody would be stealing plants and lawns LOL so we put crime scene tape from the cops around all the beds and talked to all the neighbors.

every time i saw the old man outside, i said 'ladron.' (pronounced LA DRONE lol) and he would go back inside while we were working outside. we tried to shame him and embarrass him. the sheriff's dept was willing to file charges since the whole neighborhood got plants and lawn stolen, but we are saving that as a last resort.

the thefts stopped.
the traffic at the illegals' house stopped because of all the cameras; nobody would even come hang out with him anymore and drink beer and watch soccer on the giant tv we gave them when we moved in.

and i prayed real hard about it all; and i apologized to God for accusing the old man next door, and to forgive me if i was wrong; and asked that if it WAS THE OLD MAN stealing all the plants, just to kill the plants off so that he would not be rewarded for his crimes.

GUESS WHAT: the old man is gone right now (we think he has gone to mexico to bring back more family members lol) but the whole yard is frozen and dead. he did not plan on the early freeze and his family saw no need to come over and cover his plants or move them inside.

EVERYTHING IS DEAD, including the newly planted lawn.

Re: My neighbor lady thieves my plants. What to do?
the constable said all the sheriff's deputies thought he was telling a joke and were waiting on a punch line when he explained our dilemma. lol. they gave us a half a roll of tape and some stakes for future deterrence should the need arise.

but seriously, since we put up all the cameras and signs in spanish, the crap next door ground to a halt. and we have a lot of plate numbers and faces for future legal reference should the need arise that were taken before the younger illegals pointed out to the older ones that cameras were everywhere. LOL. and right before the old man left (we think for mexico) he butchered two goats out back that apparently WERE NOT HIS. we have a pretty good dustup between him and a mexican farmer type over the goat meat on film.

we have had to learn enough spanish to 'detect threats' as suggested by local law enforcement. and we periodically go out back and shoot a lot of stuff just for the halibut.

good luck. if i were you i would pray about the woman next door, and put up game cameras, and plant some bait. when she takes the bait, print out an 8x10 and let her know that she is on record as a thief. let her know you are going to take your plants back with her blessings or you are going to the police and file charges.

also if you have any neighbors, peer pressure can be used to keep her in line. show them the game camera evidence and use social media to shame her if she has a fb or twitter acct.

out here it is a criminal trespass charge and enough of a hassle that there are fines and it sets parameters for future behavior. they can be arrested after being notified of criminal trespass.

Again...asking why she does it in a gentle way is kind of important. I might leave out the bit about stealing. You have already explained this to her. It is now time to be direct. Then pay very close attention to her response including body language. If she becomes confrontational just quickly excuse yourself without saying a word. It sounds as if you are a wise person. Your gut instinct and a little meditation to this response should give you a better idea of what you are dealing with.

If you then really want to catch her red handed a flash-less (important) infrared deer cam strategically placed might work...although if she is rotten she will surely steal that too, so if it comes to that, be sure you keep that in mind when placing it. For instance, plant in front of a window then place the cam on the other side of the window. Test it to make sure it gets you in the video and also that you can not easily detect its presence. Some people will just lie and lie and lie until you have the goods and then they will still lie...so doing this will mean you are going to go to district court to file a complaint and have her brought into court...so you are going to have to think about if this is worth it or not to you. Good luck :)

She does not have a computer.
So she is illiterate about social media.

The goat stealing is serious business. Ya know in the olden days that was a capital crime: cattle rustling. Some of those old laws are still on the books.

So, this happens all the time. Yesterday while I was gone to the store, she came over here with a shovel and dug up my brand new, blooming hibiscus! I walked over there this morning, and lo and behold, it is planted in her yard.

Any suggestions?

You have the receipt?

Do you have a security cam? They come as cheap as $130 for a 3MP cam. Suggest you quietly setup the security cam and bait her in with a nice new plant right in middle of the frame.
