I posted about losing a bird to a tumor yesterday, which led me to post about a story I was told by a friend a couple days ago.
I was telling her about my sons dying bird and how we were struggling with what to do. The bird was diagnosed with two tumors and was not doing well. My conversation with her was about how the vet said we had options, but quality of life would not be good, obviously. The tumors were growing rapidly.
I then told her about my dog who had a large tumor for 8 months and then it just disappeared, which led her to tell me about their cat.
She said that years ago their cat was not feeling well and they took him to the vet, did X-rays, and followed with a biopsy, all of which showed positive for cancer. They could not afford the medical options and decided to take him home and enjoy time they had left until he was too sick. She said he was an indoor cat.
About a week later, the cat got loose and eventually would come and go out in the woods and field. They decided to let him do this, but her dad had noted that the cat was eating some weird stuff. She said he didn't say what but that the cat was chewing on weird random things outside (grass type, etc). About a month had passed and the cat was doing well and they decided to take him back to the vet. Did blood tests, X-rays, and cancer was completely gone. The vet could not explain why. He was just as shocked as they were.
She said her dad is convinced that their is some cure for cancer in what the cat was eating. He had never done this before as far as he knew. But he thinks the cat instinctively knew to go eat something.
Anyway, I thought it was interesting and something to share here.
