How Big Should The Government Be?

In terms of people, federal, state, local and any contractors combined should be less than 3% of the total population.

State Govt only and all bills are voted on by the public from they free state supplied smartphones (one of the many benifits with the money saved by cancelling duplicate services, the UK gets a bonus as the Monarchy would be turfed as well)

There should be a small government building in every town, and that's it. No government needs their own city/state. If we need the government, we'll go down to their local stupid little building and bitch at them. But let's face it... the government is pretty unnecessary. It's like wearing a condom when the bitch is on birth control.

I believe a nation should have a constitution spelling out what the people consider to be their natural rights. Provincial/State governments shoud enact laws and by-laws that remain within the constraints of that constitution.

The federal government's role should be only for ensuring that the constitution be held up in the Provincial and State governments, secure the national borders, and be ready to defend the nation from enemies.

Federal duties to include only a department of defense and an interstate commerce commission to establish uniform terms and mediate trade squabbles among the states, both of the above to be regulated by congress which would convene for only 30 days a year and for emergency sessions.

All else to be handled at the most local level possible.

It has to be real big to control people.
It has to be real big to support corruption.
It has to be real big if the government decides to support people.
It has to be real big to control the environment.
It has to be real big to save people from themselves.
It has to be real big to support a massive prison system.
It has to be real big to provide insufficient infrastructure where private business interests benefit.
It has to be real big to support an inefficient tax structure to support certain "important" individuals and businesses.
It has to be real big to invade foreign countries to save them from themselves.
It has to be real big to support the idea that "we are right and they are wrong".

Not if every individual is self-governing. I really don't know why people think it's okay for someone else to rule/control/"govern" them, when it's turned out badly every time in history.
