Channel 8 News Showing Police SNUFF Video

This is sort of breaking news...

Just now on NBC Channel 8 (KGW) News in Portland, Oregon, they showed footage of three Portland cops unloading 15 rounds from their revolvers into a man standing outside a convenience store with both hands clearly in the air and above his head, but I guess where the guy was holding a sharp kitchen knife in one hand.

You can hear the one cop yelling at the top of his lungs like a demon-possessed for the man to drop the knife. Then, I guess the guy stepped forward slightly (although you can't see him actually moving forward) in which case the cops unloaded the 15 bullets into him, killing him instantly. The video shows the guy dropping to the ground.

I was frankly surprised to see KGW News publishing what amounts to a SNUFF flick for all to see. I can't think of another time where I've seen ANY television news station publishing actual footage of any type of killing, much less than a mass police shooting of a single suspect.

Before they aired the footage, the news commentator warns that the footage is graphic (which it really was quite graphic), but he offers the reasoning for showing it by saying, "But we feel it's important to show it."

So that was it: The news station "feels it's important" to show the city cops blowing away some guy. But why was it important to do that? No explanation was given as to "WHY" they think it's important to show a squad of cops not only just shooting some guy to death, but furthermore where the cops evidently just kept pulling on their triggers in the interest of blasting the guy into a bloody fucking pulp.

Putting myself in the position of the (now-dead) suspect, if I was standing there with a knife in my hand and both hands all the way over my head, I believe that I would be severely confused about what's going on around me, and particularly with some crazed cop screaming at me at the top of his lungs. There's also a good chance I wouldn't quite fully realize that I was even holding a knife in my hand.

I may either not drop the knife to the ground because I was confused about the whole situation due to the yelling and screaming cop, or I might be afraid to drop it because I wouldn't want to surprise the cops with the sudden movement of dropping it to the ground, which could cause them to shoot me. Therefore, I simply hold onto the knife, but still with my hands extended all the way over my head, which is ALMOST ALWAYS a sign that the person is surrendering to police and NOT trying to escalate the confrontation.

But then in my confusion, I spontaneously make a slight and fatal step forward, because I was actually trying to show that I didn't mean any harm; but the cops don't exactly see things that way and so then they blow me the fuck away to the best of their abilities.

I watched that video closely. I really do think that the guy was super-fucking confused with the crazily screaming cop and that he wasn't sure about how to react properly to the situation, which presumably would have been to simply drop the knife. It looked to me like he was trying to surrender and not that he had his hands all the way over his trying to look like Frankenstein the Monster wielding a knife around.

Let's say I'm wrong, though, and the guy really was trying to look like Frankenstein with a knife; and that the reason he stepped slightly forward would not have been in a good-will gesture, but instead where he was planning on stabbing all the cops to death with his kitchen knife.

Okay, so what ever happened to using those "TASER" guns. There were at least three cops on the scene who shot the guy (and there might have been a fourth cop who didn't fire his gun); and based on watching the video, they had all kinds of time to fire several TASER rounds into him.

There was no indication the dead suspect was carrying a gun. Don't they teach cops anymore how to disarm a person with a knife?
