Many Beijingers tend to use the word “wumai” (meaning fog), rather than “wuran” (pollution), to describe the poor air quality – and not just because it’s the official Newspeak of weather reports. It’s partly because, one local tells me, “if we had to face up to how much we’re destroying the environment and our bodies every day, it would just be too much.” A recent report by researchers in Shanghai described Beijing’s atmosphere as almost “uninhabitable for human beings” – not really something you want to be reminded of every day My dreams are worthless, my plans are dust, my goals are impossible, unless they are followed by action containing integrity as its standard. |

Beijing plans to have China’s nuclear-generating capacity rise to 88 gigawatts by 2020, representing nearly a 80 percent increase from current capacity. By 2050, China hopes to have 400-500 giagwatts of nuclear capacity – 100 times more than it has now. Anonymous Coward User ID: 66262867 United States 12/21/2014 12:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.msn.com] Quoting: shadahooch-e Beijing’s air quality has long been a cause of concern, but the effects of its extreme levels of pollution on daily life can now be seen in physical changes to the architecture of the city. Buildings and spaces are being reconfigured and daily routines modified to allow normal life to go on beneath the toxic shroud. Paper face masks have been common here for a long time, but now the heavy-duty kind with purifying canister filters – of the sort you might wear for a day of asbestos removal – are frequently seen on the streets. On bad days, bike lanes are completely deserted, as people stay at home or retreat to the conditioned environments of hermetically-sealed malls. It’s as if the 21-million-strong population of the Chinese capital is engaged in a mass city-wide rehearsal for life on an inhospitable planet. Only it’s not a rehearsal: the poisonous atmosphere is already here. Maybe the reason for all the ghost cities, it would seem several large cities will be uninhabitable within 10 years. readin this gimme whole new persrective bout obama mebbe he is rightthey got less unemployment there but jeez live in that shitty enviro an if ya wash it outta the air where it goin probly ta yo drinkin water. |

Water CANNOT ever be a "fuel" - it is inert - one has to put energy in, before one can take it out again. Fossil Fuel is not inert, it contains sunlight energy which was compressed into a huge amount of energy contained in a small volume over millions of years. We do NOT have to put energy into it, to get any back out - Nature put it in millenia ago. |

Those cars that supposedly run on water are actually running on the aluminum cans they put in with the water. The aluminum gets oxidized (burned,) freeing up the hydrogen to run the engine. The energy it took to refine that aluminum greatly exceeds the energy returned to run the engine. If it was at all possible, the Universe would have incorporated it into Nature from the get go. It didn't - the only sustainable source of new energy comes from the sun, and Nature uses that to the ultimate efficiency. It would not have done so if there were other sources of energy which are infinite. |
