Actually, Sinterklaas went off on 5 Dec without a glitch. As it has for hundreds of years here. Those Black Peter's are black from the chimney's. Not because they are black/slaves or anything like that. Stronger even, the black Peter's are often more loved, respected and admired by the kids then Sinterklaas himself.

Saint Nicholas (Sinterklaas) was a real man, who loved the kids.

None-the-less, it is all the roots of this modern day Santa Claus myth.
