Why would it be necessary for others, in fact, to know who the water bearer is? For worship? For emulation? To mimic? To hang on every word as if gospel, when gospel is edited versions of life?

Everything is hidden in plain sight for a world civilization that cannot remember what was before.

When the hour of calling comes, you should hope it is not then you come to know who you are. You should pray and work with all you can to reconcile your self before that appointed moment, for it breaks many.

The feast only occurs to self when one allows it to happen to self. Unfortunately, most would look outside of self for both blame and reconciliation. Which brings me back to why it may be so painful when accepting your call.
