Magic Bullet rust in blender
I have been making smoothies for a while now with this blender, I noticed a couple months ago sometimes they taste kind of tangy or different, thought it was just the fruit at the time, a couple weeks ago I noticed the bottom of the blades had rust and sometimes it leaks orange when washing it. I just Didn't think the rust would actually go into the smoothie.

So today I just put clear water and blended it, damn water turned filthy dirty with rust particles in it.

Anyone know if these things were recalled or something, I've been drinking rust smoothies for the past couple of months, can't this shiet make u sick...

steel can go rusty. so you have to properly clean and dry those blades after use. maybe even put some vegetable oil on them to keep the oxygen away from the blades.

It's not the blades that are rusting, it's the inner gears, no way to access them and clean them

There are various grades of stainless steel. One would assume that an inexpensive appliance does not use the high quality stuff. We all know they don't make em like they used to.

Even high quality stainless can start to corrode from salts and acids. Keep that stuff as clean as you can, as soon as you can.

surely the stuff being blended shouldn't even touch the gears. it should only contact the blades and the shaft turning the blades. gears should be completely separate from the blending zone. SHIRLEY!!

Check for examples on youtube. My wife wanted one of these for xmas and when I showed her what I found... She changed her mind.

It's amazing that manufactures can get away with this kind of thing. I could easily rant for pages and pages. I'm everyone here could too.

Someone posted the video on another thread, which brings to light....

1) He doesn't take care of his kitchen appliances. Gross

2) It looks like he is using the MajicBullet head on the Nutribullet....not the STAINLESS NutriBullet head.

Nutribullet head has stainless steel blades.
Mine has never rusted in all the years of use. (3-4 years)
I have friends using it as well....no issues with rust.
One did have a power cord problem and he sent it back but they replaced it totally.

Depends on the stainless steel.
True stainless steel does not rust.....cheap stainless with impurities does....thank China for that crap.

Not trying to sell anyone a Nutribullet, but I, nor anyone I know who is using it, has every had a rust problem.

The guy in the video seems to have switched the MagicBullet and Nutribullet heads too.
Different machines entirely....MagicBullet was always disposable crap.

Re: Magic Bullet rust in blender
Stainless steel is "Stain-less"

A common misconception about stainless steel is that is not affected by corrosion. While misleading, the phenomenal success of the metal makes this common belief understandable. One of New York City's most impressive landmarks is the stainless steel clad peak of the Chrysler Building. Built in 1930 of 302 Stainless, a recent inspection revealed no signs of corrosion or loss of thickness. The tallest manmade monument in the US, the St Louis Arch, is entirely clad in 304 stainless steel plates. Except for cleaning, the stainless exterior of this monument has required no corrosion maintenance. Closer to home, housewives work in stainless steel sinks that shine as bright as the day the were installed. Everyday the average American will come into contact with numerous examples of the success of stainless steel. And while the name correctly signifies the rust resistant properties of the metal, "stain-less" is not 100% "stain-proof" in certain applications.

I'm happy with my Vitamix and wish I'd bought it earlier- could have with all the money wasted on blenders that didn't work well and lasted less than a year. Plus it pulverizes strawberry seeds and such. But I haven't had it long- if it breaks down I'll be going to thrift shops to look for one made before the 80's when quality mattered.

I'd say that hives are more likely to be caused by food allergies. Eczema too. Cracking, red knuckles can be a sign. Take some Benadryl and see if the hives start to subside. If they do, you need to find out what you're allergic to. Muscle testing works if you don't have $500 for a blood test.
