Nearing the end of Shemitah

"And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, look up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near --- But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a snare; for it will come upon all who dwell upon the face of the whole earth. But watch at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of man." (Lk 21:25-28; 34-36)


Shemitah
As we see above, Holy Scripture, defines a seven year period known in Hebrew as the shemitah. During the first six years of the shemitah, the ancient Israelites were allowed to work their land, but during the last year of the seven year period (known as the "Sabbattic year" or "Shemitah year") they were prohibited from doing so. The Shemitah year was to be dedicated to rest and to giving thanks to God for His blessings. Clearly, it also was a test of obedience and confidence in Divine providence.

Additionally, Holy Scripture called for the releasing or forgiveness of all debts at the end of the Shemitah year, the last day of which occurs on Elul 29 of the Hebrew calendar. Essentially every 7 years, the slates were cleaned, and people were provided with a fresh start. Clearly, Our Heavenly Father did not want His people to become slaves to debt.

Further, the Jubilee year occurs at the end of seven shemitahs, or seven periods of seven years (viz. 49 years). Essentially, the Jubilee year (50th) called for: (a) rest of the soil; (b) reversion of land and property to its original owner, who had been driven by poverty to sell it; and (c) the freeing or releasing of those Israelites who, through poverty or otherwise, had become the slaves of their brethren.

It should be emphasized that Shemitah years were designed by God to be blessings. However, when His people failed to obey His directives, certain chastisements have been known to accompany Shemitah years -- particularly, near, on or shortly after the end of Shemitah years.

Much has been written about, specific patterns of world events associated with Shemitah years of the past. This writing will not attempt to address them all, but will concentrate on those of relatively recent times. For illustrative purposes, consider the pattern which has developed with respect to recent Shemitah years, and the corresponding adverse events that have occurred then:
- 1973 OPEC was formed, and the oil embargo and oil crisis triggered an economic recession. In the USA, the decision of the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade, opened the door for the mass murder of millions of babies in the womb.
- 1980 In this year, an inflationary recession occurred. In the USA, interest rates were raised to 21.5% in an attempt to counter economic inflation.
- 1987 The stock market in the USA crashed in one of the largest crashes of all time.
- 1994 The bond market in the USA crashed. This year has become the benchmark year by which all subsequent downturns in the bond market are compared.
- 2001 Commercial airliners were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in the USA. Shortly, thereafter the stock market crashed in what has come to be known as the "dot.com" crash.
- 2008 The bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, triggered what became known as the real estate subprime mortgage stock market crash. As a result mortgaged-backed securities became tainted, and international institutional investors became insolvent almost over night. The world economy came very close to a collapse

As of this writing, we are in the midst of a Shemitah year, which will end on Elul 29 of 2015. In 2015, Elul 29th occurs on September 13, 2015.

Further, we find ourselves in a state where the world economy which has been held together by "duct tape" for several years is failing; the US Dollar has become worthless; the majority of nations carry debt which far exceed their respective annual gross domestic product; most central banks are in the position where they can not increase the money supply ("print more money") nor raise interest rates to make their bonds attractive to buyers; civil, regional and nuclear world war can break out at any time in a multitude of places on the globe; certain members of the Catholic hierarchy are challenging historical Catholic teaching (which can never be changed); the Faith amongst Catholics has fallen dramatically; morals of people in general have become debased; homosexuality is being flaunted and its "acceptance" forced upon the public; human fetal abortion and birth control are on the rise; pre-marital and extra-marital sex is considered normal; the birth rate of children out of wedlock has skyrocketed; God is being removed from public display and outlawed from public discussion and consideration; Christian persecution is increasing worldwide at an increasing rate; worship of Satan is being exhibited in the public domain; beheading of innocent victims (which previously was only read about in history books) is occurring at an increasing rate; police departments have become militarized, and possess weapons which have been banned in warfare by the Geneva Convention; governments have become fascist; man exists in an electronic concentration camp where our communications, and even our homes, are monitored constantly; the man-made HAARP machine has the weather in chaos; horrible diseases are being created by man and transmitted; God's nature is being adulterated via genetically modified organisms (GMO) and cloning; the Fukishima Daiichi reactors are continuing to belch radiation into the atmosphere at rates in excess of man's ability to measure, together with massive quantities of contaminated water being dumped into the Pacific Ocean daily, and much more.

It is clear from Holy Scripture, that God will attempt to correct His people at times by sending chastisements, or by simply withdrawing His protection and allowing their enemies to overrun them.

Let us be clear, we make NO attempt to set dates. No one can put a bridle upon God. He does what He wants and when He wants. Having said that, prophecy is clear - God will not tolerate much more sin. Only He knows how and when He will act. Mindful of that, we submit this writing as a general "heads-up" warning – a warning to repent of our sins, to prepare as He directed, and to remain vigilant to all signs of the times. (1)

Lunar Tetrad
It is worthy of note that we are in the midst of what is known as a lunar eclipse tetrad. A lunar eclipse tetrad is a series of 4 consecutive total lunar eclipses occurring at approximately six month intervals. The total lunar eclipse of April 15, 2014 was followed by another on October 8, 2014, and will be followed by another on April 4, 2015, and another on September 28 2015. Further, a total solar eclipse is scheduled to occur on March 20, 2014, with a partial solar eclipse to occur on September 13, 2015. (2)

In Catholic Tradition and Holy Scripture, blood moons (which accompany lunar eclipses) and solar eclipses are considered signs of warning or impending judgment. We hasten to add that lunar tetrads are very rare in occurrence. The current tetrad is the ninth since the birth of Jesus. We note also, that this tetrad was initiated with another sign of warning, a comet. I am referring to comet ISON, which we were told by Jesus was a "sign of things to come" and a "sign of the coming Warning" (Refer to the parenthetical note below.).

The Jewish Appointed Feasts
In the book of Leviticus, Our Heavenly Father instructed Moses to establish certain "appointed feasts" of the Lord, which the Israelites were to honor each year. (3) Many key events have occurred on certain of these annual feasts, particularly with respect to the Jewish people.

It is worthy of note, that each of the blood moons associated with the 2014-2015 tetrad, occur on Jewish feast days or the eves of such feast days. Consider the following:
- April 15, 2014 – was Passover, and a total lunar eclipse occurred;
- October 8, 2014 – was the Eve of Succot (or feast of Tabernacles), and a total lunar eclipse occurred;
- April 4, 2015 – will be the feast of Passover and a total lunar eclipse (blood moon) is to occur; and
- September 28, 2015 – will be the or feast of Tabernacles, and a total lunar eclipse (blood moon) is to occur.

Additionally, during 2015, solar eclipses are schedule to occur as follows:
- March 20, 2015 – a total solar eclipse is scheduled to occur on the date of the Jewish New Year (not included in Leviticus); and
- September 13, 2015 – a partial solar eclipse is to occur on the Eve of Rosh Hashanah.


What is the probability that the occurrence of the lunar tetrad occurs at this time by chance when the world is so evil, on or near Jewish feast days, and when both the signs of the times and certain private prophecy indicate that Jesus is about to return in glory?
