[link to www.geonet.org.nz] This is right beside the huge fault line we are expecting to go off anytime now and will be around a 8.5 when it does. |

A shallow quake like this produces severe shaking and lots of damage. It also matters where it is. If it happens out in the bush, as most quakes do and I suspect this one has, then it's not a big deal. If it happens right under a city, then it is a huge big deal. Yes but sorry I don't consider a large quake a 6+ happened in japan or nz but it would be definitely large in Italy where buildings materials and projects are mostly a scandal or as you told if it happens right under an old or not well projected city |

Danyal Taylor is staying in Castle Hill, about 15km from the epicentre. She had no damage. "We were in bed when it happened and it lasted for about 15-20 seconds." [link to www.stuff.co.nz] . |

The center of town is now a huge building site as over 6700 buildings had to cleared away. . |
