No way. If the object moving away were a fragment, it would slow down. Instead, it continues to speed away.

Here's my 2 cents...

It was space debris entering the atmosphere.

A piece of this debris, (a flat access panel or something) came off during re-entry and caught air flow at a crappy aerodynamic angle.

I'm gonna go watch it a few more times.

Maybe the alien craft was trying to deflect the asteroid from Earth and bugged out when it had done it.

Did anyone say that the asteroid had actually impacted anywhere or blew up?

If it blew up then the craft might have been trying to help us by deflecting it from hitting the ground..maybe some kind of tractor beam or something.

Well it is definitely traveling away, not just traveling slower.

So here's a question, why didn't he continue to follow it? It disappeared behind a building, so you WALK FORWARD AND KEEP FILMING...

Or maybe this was just a training run for them...to see if they could deflect an asteroid from hitting the ground...maybe in accordance with the fact that we are entering a portion of space where there are allot of asteroids coming close to Earth right now for the next few months until March i think...and some of them are quite large...some even extinction event large.

I think they gonna need a bigger ship to deflect those big ones.

i would say secret space plane/shuttle had a whoopsie on re entry and it got a little warm so the crew opted to relese the escape pod and hopefully survived, we are far more advanced than "we" know about...

I saw this same thing, about 410 pm driving home from work.. It happened and looked very weird

No and many of you do not know a meteor from a craft. I didn't watch the video.... this old computer is not doing them well.

I was on North San diego county looking south.. at 1st looked like a cem trail turning on, then it seem to have a meteor like tall, about 2o secs onto it looked a new tail going the other way.. it arc up high then disappeared

holy fk ive seen a lot if not thousands of Ufo Videos but this one is by far one of the most mind bogeling... if it was human made the capsule or escape pod woulda just flip out ...release a parchute and travel down--- this orb however travels at around 400 mh + away from the Impact angle...if that ´Video is real holy sheeet

Ok not sure what's going on with this one. You can hear what sounds like morter fire or a gunshot type sound at the moment of the offshoot.

I'm leaning towards weird "boy that cried wolf" e.t. ufo trivialization campaign.

A real video of a meteor which has been slowed down and the audio track added to seem somehow "believable."

Cgi for the offshooting "orb."

Added gunshot or mortar fire sound effect.

Or whole thing is video editing and movie magic..

It was moving slowly. It would have caught plenty of attention before emitting the supposed offshoot.
