More than 60 people commented on KWWL's Facebook page, asking what it could have been. We contacted the Cedar Falls Police and Cedar Falls Fire Department. Neither had any information on what the loud noise was. They said they would have been on scene if something happened. We also contacted Cedar Falls Utilities because some believe it could have been some type of transformer or telephone wire that had possibly gone out, but if that was the case crews would have also been out. An official said that they had no outages or explosions on their end that would have caused the noise and rumble Monday morning.
