Word has it it will be a reboot (as in, the previous X-Files canon 'won't exist' in light of the new series, it's like starting it all over). Not the best move IMO, it would be cool to pick up the series where it left off

Often events in filler episodes will never have any effect on canon episodes.. in a lot of ways they never even happened. Referring to the Xfiles, Mulder's story about the ufo abductions and his sister are the canon, and episodes like the Cops one are filler. Never heard of that before....nor is it a "Websters" term that I know of. As for picking up where it left off.....I dunno. Better to start semi-fresh and go with new directions IMO. No doubt many old directions will cross with new ones as well.
