Guys, please, I need some input or advice......
In a couple of weeks I'm due to have an inguinal hernia repair done. I freaking out because I've read some horror stories about post-op pain continuing for months or mesh pads they use becoming infected and a host of other probs. On the other hand this thing needs fixing as it aches like a bitch somtimes and looks like a golf ball in my groin. very uncomfotable.

The doctor who's doing it is a transplant surgeon so I can assume he's very competant.

Just want some input from other GLPers who may have had this done. Thanks

My husband had that done and had no complications. Pain was insignificant after the first day or so (and the hospital was very prompt and conscientious about providing more than adequate relief for post op pain) My husband was back home within two days or so. He has not had a single problem with it or any recurrence since.
I wouldn't worry if I were you. I know it's easy to worry about any invasive procedure but this one (hernia repair) is not difficult or known to produce complications.
Hope that helps somewhat.

By the way, surgeries are done very very carefully these days. Everything has to be super-sterilized, each sponge they use on a patient is counted before and after they use it so they don't leave one in you by mistake, they overlook nothing! No one wants to get sued or risk his/her reputation.

My brother and I both had this problem in our teens. (too skinny and played too hard.)

Had it fixed and never an issue. No mesh, just stitches.....this was 30+ years ago.

Don't sweat it. It will be all over before you know it & you will wonder why you waited so long.

cheers
