The religions merged in fact. Over all it was a compromise of and between the Norse religion and Christianity that is in contemporary culture.

But there is still much prejudice toward the Norse religion sadly, I guess mainly due to hatred of Paganism.

And the lack of understanding of it.

Which is pitiful really. If others want respect for their beliefs they should give it too
