So they tried to shut down the old Ukraine thread and two sprung up in it's place?

Some people are only interested in following the news, others want to discuss what it's all about. I for example are mostly interested in "understanding the big picture". I want to know where we are heading to. The vaguely described "post only news" rules on the other thread, does not work as any sort of foundation for constructive debate (including news).
