Rev 9:1 "And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit."

The Fifth Trumpet - The expulsion of Satan from heaven. The identification of Satan in this passage is not hard to make. Isaiah foresaw this development in exactly the same manner described by John. "How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, you who have weakened the nations!" (Isaiah 14 v.12)

We know that Jesus Christ holds the key to the bottomless pit.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70568049

Rev 9:2 "And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit."

Jesus gave the angel of the bottomless pit the keys so that he could be released to carry out this punishment. Just as Satan had to have permission of God to afflict Job...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71045199

Rev 9:3 "And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power."

The description of the locusts indicates that they are demons who are given physical forms in order to manifest their destruction and torment. Horses show their warlike character. Their crowns depict them as conquerors. Human faces show intelligence. Their feminine hair perhaps makes them seductive and attractive. The teeth of lions shows them to be destructive and hurtful. Breastplates of iron make them indestructible. Wings symbolize swiftness. The stings in their tails give them the power to hurt. Fortunately for mankind, their period of torment is limited to five months. But the next judgment is even worse.

Notice, these have to be demons as they had no power in and of themselves. It was given unto them.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71051976

9:4 "And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads."

This is an attack on the person, which makes us take another look at it spiritually. They have orders not to hurt the vegetation or the 144,000 who have been sealed in their foreheads. Real locusts would eat every green thing that they could find, and they do. Looking at this from the spiritual standpoint, these locusts are demon spirits turned loose upon this earth. The devil, or his demons, cannot really hurt anyone covered in the blood of Jesus.

"You may torment those who have the Antichrist's mark, but you may not kill them." Also, "you may not touch those who belong to Me."
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71058273

Rev 9:5 "And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment [was] as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man."

Here again, whether this is physical pain and torment from fallout causing sores and torture, or whether this is spiritual and terrible suffering, it is brought on by constant attack from the devil for five months. It is terrible. As at Hiroshima, those who survived the bomb, wished they were dead. Great sores, deformities and torment beyond our comprehension took place. In many cases it took five months to die. A terrible burn would have the pain of a scorpion's sting.

 Quoting: Foy 62879216

My proof is it's all coming true today - every word Jesus uttered....

Let me ask you this...

Jesus said in Mathew 24

Many will be offended - is not political correctness at an insane level.

He said - evil will abound, love will grow cold. Has it not?

That many will hate one another - are we not in the western world turn against muslims? In return they despise us....

That christians will be hated worldwide - is not the entire world turning against christianity?

Here's the kicker.

Jesus said we will SEE earthquakes and nation against nation in diverse places. Well can we?

If you look in Luke 21 the parable of the fig tree - he tells us that when we SEE buds on a tree, we know summer is here.

The same applies with end times; when we SEE earthquakes in divers places watch out.....

Death would be a welcome relief to all this suffering. These forces of evil turned loose (unrestrained) upon the earth, whether physical or spiritual, will be so terrible that men will beg to die but will be unable to during this punishment.

Here John describes the locusts (demons) as he gives a detailed description of their appearance in his vision. They are described as locusts as they will bring massive and devastating judgment from God.

This demon host will be virtually unstoppable and man will have no weapon that can harm them or cure for the terrible torment they will inflict.

Ah, like that's gonna happen. I'd be happy if some could just explain why someone would bother writing a "prophecy" that wasn't going to come true for a couple/three thousand years. What exactly is the point in making a fuss about an event that nobody you are speaking to will be alive to witness?

Thing is we are witnessing much of the prophecies of Revelation, Isaiah, Mathew, Luke come true today.

Here's a few items many people are missing:

We have the capability to administer the mark of the beast world wide.

We have the ability to SEE the antichrist in the temple from a field or rooftop.

And - the ones we are actually witnessing are:

Jesus said we will SEE earthquakes and nation against nation in diverse places. Well can we?

The last 2000 years many prophecies have been fulfilled.

Here are some from the Book of Isaiah:

Isaiah's prophecies

Isaiah the prophet lived in Jerusalem about 2700 years ago, during the time in which the Assyrian Empire conquered the northern part of the Jewish homeland. The book of Isaiah contains many prophecies that are interpreted by Christians (including us at this web site) as being about the Messiah Jesus Christ. Today, we can see with our own eyes that many of Isaiah's prophecies have found fulfillment with the worldwide dispersion of Jews, the worldwide persecution of Jews, the recent worldwide migration of Jews back to Israel during the past century, the recent re-establishment and restoration of Israel, and the worldwide impact that Jews have had on the world.

Below is a partial listing of Isaiah's prophecies....

LOL -

These 2 Jewish boys give a clue when that's gonna happen:

A couple of snippets:

They saw a hand extended from above and Eliyahu HaNavi (Prophet Isaiah) arrived with Mashiach (Maschiach ben Dovid).

Instead of seeing the Western Wall, their eyes are drawn to a huge building on Har Habayit. (The Temple Mount).

Then they see graves opening on Har Hazeitim (Mount of Olives) and people coming out of the graves – techiyat hameitim (Resurrection)....

When we are dealing with the manifestations of the Divine, we have to think outside of our cognitive thinking process. Yes, HaShem will have to send His revelations to even the young men who with pure hearts will proclaim the futuristic manifestations that the Holy One of Israel will bring upon His people as He opens the floodgates of heaven and send His Spirit along with Elijah the Prophet who by the testimony of the prophets will also reveal to all on Planet Earth, the hour of the revelation of the Maschiach be Dovid has now come.

When the third temple is built in Israel, it will signal the end times. The Jews do not consider Jesus as the messiah. Just like when they hung him willfully on the cross, Jews still believe the messiah has not come yet, and that Jesus was just a sorcerer who tricked his people.

Israel will be at the center of the end, which is why Christ refers to them, and why he chose to be born among his persecutors. Watch Israel for the signs.

There have always been disasters in many places. There have always been earthquakes and wars and rumors of wars.

It's like saying it will be partly sunny with a chance of showers.

Difference is according to Luke 21, Mathew 24

We will SEE all these things.

I mean through web cams, streaming video.

How are you going to see an earthquake in a another country without the internet.

i.e. Jesus said when you see earthquakes in diverse places...

We are the only generation to have capabilities Jesus said we will have in Mathew 24...

Uh, you are not seeing anything in another country. You are seeing a picture of that thing. To think that all the fuss kicked up at the time for a prophecy that wasn't going to happen until centuries upon centuries after everyone hearing it was dead doesn't make a lot of sense.

I am seeing earthquakes in diverse places here, all at once:

Another example is:

Jesus said we will see the "evil one" in the temple from a field or rooftop.

Why would Jesus give us these 2 perspectives?

One high and one low.

How could we see him in the temple without a smartphone if we are in a field?

No you aren't. You are seeing pixels playing on a screen. You may believe them to be accurate, but even if they are, they are just representations of such and you aren't seeing anything other than that.

Now, here's another example that should be clearer.

Jesus said we will SEE the "evil one" in the temple from a field or rooftop.

So how can you SEE him in the temple from a field without a smartphone??

It doesn't matter how many examples you trot out. Seeing an image is not the same as seeing the thing itself. To hang your hopes on such literal and concrete renderings when the text you are citing is anything but literal or concrete, well, if it works for you, go for it. Just don't wonder why it doesn't work for others.

Well here's an example in the bible where is says it will be an image.

This image will be one that all worship.

It will speak and be alive and everyone will worship it.

Once again it can be any media with a screen:

Rev 13: dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast,

give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak

----

So yes - here is an image that one can SEE :)

Let me give you an example where it would be impossible to be there, and they'd have to be using something like GoPro to live stream this:

Ezekiel 39

The Arabs are attacking Israel in the Gog Magog war and God tells us:

21 ...ALL the heathen shall SEE my judgment that I have executed

God decimates the Arabs....

We will actually be watching the action...

Once again here is an example where you most likely will be watching from another nation:

Rev 11 - the beast kills the 2 witnesses:

9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall SEE their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

And they ascended into heaven....
