Tabernacle is also referred to as sanctuary/holy place
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74766727

Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74816797

Example where sanctuary is used for tabernacle:

Dan 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74823748

Continued from biblestudytools:

The most significant symbolism {of Tabernacle} is surely that found in the arrangement of spaces and objects. The court itself speaks of the separation between God and the sinner. It is impossible for us to come into the presence of God in our normal state. This gulf is further reinforced by the veil at the door of the Holy Place, and by the one that closed off the Holy of Holies. It is impossible that good intentions and honest effort can ever bring us to God. We come in the ways he has dictated, or not at all.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74869298

The first object encountered {in the tabernacle} is the altar.

Behind the altar is the laver. Here we are reminded that God is clean. "Clean" describes the essential character of God, who is faithful, upright, merciful, and true. To be unclean is to fail to share that character, and that which does not share God's character cannot exist in his white-hot presence ( Isa 6:5 ). Thus, it is necessary for those who would come into his presence to be washed and made clean ( Psalm 51:7 ), and the laver represents both that necessity and that possibility.

The laver is a large basin where the priest wash, before serving in the tabernacle.

Some believe that Rev 21:3 means God will 'personally' dwell with people:

From versebyverse commentary:

God will be personally present with His people.

The word “tabernacle” means dwelling place. Believers will have intimate fellowship with God on an ongoing basis. The tabernacle of the Old Testament only typified the Shekinah glory of the Lord Jesus.

The tabernacle of eternity is His very presence.

5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened

8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

27 And in the day that he goeth into the sanctuary, unto the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin offering, saith the Lord God.

Summary of the tabernacle so far:

It's a place where God and his people meet; plus a place for sacrifices

A brief description was given

The tabernacle originated after the Israelis left Egypt and continued until the Dispora

There's been none since then

However, there will be a tabernacle during the great tribulation, the millenial reign, in heaven, and once again on earth; after a new earth is created.

From biblestudy commentary:

Small excerpt:

An important fact bearing upon our study of this is the fact that no such Temple was ever built, and there is no indication whatever that it will ever be built....

The literal dimensions given here are, to say the least, quite impractical. "The square of the Temple given in Ezekiel 42:20 is six times as large as the circuit of the wall encircling the old Temple. The city of Jerusalem, here has an area between three and four thousand square miles (about ten times the square miles within the Houston city limits). This is about as large as all of Judea west of the Jordan river."[2]....

As for the reason why such a material Temple was prophesied for Israel upon their return from Babylon, we can by no means be sure. It could very well be that, IF Israel had returned en masse as God intended, and IF they had truly rallied to God, believing and obeying him, that such a magnificent edifice would indeed have been built. Since no such pre-conditions ever were fulfilled, God did not build it, nor allow it to be built. In any case, such a vision of so grand a Temple would have served to encourage and motivate Israel's return; and that might have been God's sole reason for giving the vision. We cannot pretend to know....

Perhaps it has something to do with this verse in Rev 11

2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

We have several chapters in Ezekiel and a chapter in Rev that are devoted to measuring and building the end times temple; the end times being from the beginning of the tribulation to the end of the millenial reign.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55979135

Immediately after the gog magog war chapter 39 - we find the next chapter (40) - the temple measurements being given to Ezekiel:

Ezekiel 40:

2 In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.

3 And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate....

6 Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74967818

From biblestudy commentary:

Small excerpt:

An important fact bearing upon our study of this is the fact that no such Temple was ever built, and there is no indication whatever that it will ever be built....

The literal dimensions given here are, to say the least, quite impractical. "The square of the Temple given in Ezekiel 42:20 is six times as large as the circuit of the wall encircling the old Temple. The city of Jerusalem, here has an area between three and four thousand square miles (about ten times the square miles within the Houston city limits). This is about as large as all of Judea west of the Jordan river."[2]....

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74979123

Perhaps it has something to do with this verse in Rev 11

2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74991296

In Ezekiel 40 God is telling him to measure everything-including the court.

However, we don't know if this is the same temple as Rev 11; since we aren't given any measurements.

Also, the dimensions of the court could be given at a later time.

The question is how many more temples will there be?

According to this author 2:

Small excerpt from bibletrack.org

Ezekiel's Millennial Temple will not be built on the existing Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Instead, according to Ezekiel 40:2, it will be built on "a very high mountain."....

I should point out, however, that this temple will be built for the millennium; it will not be the temple that is defiled by the Beast (aka Antichrist) of Revelation 13:1-10 (see notes) during the tribulation. Therefore, at least two temples are in Israel's future - one for the Beast to defile and another for the millennium, built to Ezekiel's specifications.

These events have to be noticeable/notable - affecting the entire world.

Re: Prophecies Jesus gave in Mathew 24 and Revevelation require internet and smartphone
To the OP of this thread and anyone else who has been misled by false teachers concerning Matt 24 and what Jesus said.

First of all, they WERE prophecies. Secondly, Jesus said that THIS (meaning the people he was speaking to) generation will SEE these things. Thirdly, those "things" happened about 40 years after Jesus said them.

They are NOT about modern day times. NOT NOT NOT

Anyone who READS the account can figure this out.

Three questions were asked of Jesus at the beginning. He answered their first two, and the answer was ALL ABOUT what was to come in 70AD.....the destruction of Jerusalem by the abomination of desolation standing in the Holy Place. (that being the Roman Army destroying the temple, and how to escape that judgement)

The third question was about His return. And He said there would be NO signs. NO warnings. So if you are looking for earthquakes, wars, rumors of wars, etc to WARN you of Christ's coming......you have been FOOLED AGAIN.

It is VERY simple folks. Prophecy has been FULFILLED IN CHRIST. There is ONLY ONE THING LEFT.

Christ's return/our judgement. And again, if you think there is a SIGN to look for, you are sadly mistaken.

The Word tells us that ONLY the Father knows that day.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60773203

I think you're mistaken about the use of the phrase "this generation." It appears his intent was to use "this" to describe the generation in which those signs appear, as the OP indicated. In other words, WHEN all these signs start to appear, then THIS generation in which they start appearing won't pass away until they are all fulfilled.

If you are in a field/rooftop - FLEE...

These verses in Daniel 8 cast some doubt on whether there will be a second end-times temple:

13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

So far we've learned that Ezekiel's temple is enormous and possibly impractical to build.

Thus, we have an argument that it is not a literal temple.

However, there is also the other side of the coin;

It will be a literal temple - from gotquestions:

short excerpt:

Arguing for a literal fulfillment of the prophecy of Ezekiel’s temple are the numerous details of Ezekiel’s vision and the specific dimensions of the temple. If the vision is to be literally fulfilled, then the fulfillment must be future, for nothing like what is described in Ezekiel 40–48 has taken place up to this point. The dimensions of Ezekiel’s temple are far larger than the temple in Jesus’ day, and that temple was a grand structure.

Most who expect a literal fulfillment of Ezekiel’s temple expect it to be erected in the millennial kingdom, a 1000-year reign of Christ upon the earth. During the millennium, glorified saints from the present age will live in contact with natural human beings who will still need to make a decision for Christ in order to be saved—and many will choose not to trust Him. The sacrificial system described in Ezekiel cannot be for the forgiveness of sins, for Christ has accomplished that once and for all (Hebrews 10:1–4, 11–14). In this interpretive approach, the sacrifices are seen as memorials of Christ’s death or as rites for the ceremonial cleansing of the temple, but not as a means to forgive sins....
