The 5th vial:

10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,

11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

The fifth vial, poured upon the throne of the beast, brings an eclipse over his entire realm. This increase of sorrows also works upon the impenitent inhabitants of the earth in such a way that they blaspheme God.

From the article in above post - the author does a comparison of the trumpet and vial judgements, stating they are not the same as some believe.

However, they are the same - just differ in magnitude.

For instance, Trumpet 2 - 1/3 in the sea dies and all die in vial 2.

We see this happening in the Pacific today - slowly, but surely everything is dieing in the Pacific, thanks to fukushima among other things.

This same process will take place for all life in all seas - but will happen instantaneously.

And then we have this from another author:

The sixth seal (Revelation 6:12-17, Isaiah 2:19-21), seventh trumpet (Revelation 11:15-19), and seventh vial (Revelation 16:17-21) all describe the same set of events that occur during the period just prior to, and immediately following the second coming of Jesus Christ....

The sixth seal is (and we've seen this verse many times):

12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood...

Rev 6:12...there was a great earthquake...

Rev 11:13...there a great earthquake...

So is the 6th seal and 7th trumpet the same event?

Well, that's where the similarity ends.

And Luke 21 tells us there will be great earthquakes in diverse places - meaning, there will be more than 1; we just don't know how many.

We can't say for sure that the 6th seal, 7th trumpet and vial judgements are the same event based on the information provided.

The only reason there is any doubt whatsoever is, in the 6th seal, men want to hid from the Lamb and the wrath of God - which is indicative of events after the great tribulation, and the arrival of the Great Day of the Lord.

However, there is no frame of reference upon which we can define a timeline in seal 6 either.

Continuing with The Fifth Vial/Bowl: Darkness

The Effects of the Fifth Bowl (10-11)

The first effect is seen in “his kingdom became darkened.” The verb “became” in the Greek text suggests suddenly. It looks at the sudden envelopment of the throne of the beast in total darkness. Of course, we are reminded of the “thick darkness” in Egypt which was so thick it could be felt (Exodus 10:21). “Darkened” is an intensive perfect which stresses the existing results of the blackout over the earth. Since the beast rules practically the entire world, and since these are the last plagues of the Tribulation which complete the wrath of God to establish God’s rule on earth, this darkness is undoubtedly world-wide.

As you read this, do not lose sight of the fact that this is a brief forecast of the outer darkness, pain, and torment that men will face in the lake of fire (Matt. 5:30; 22:13; 8:12). 6th vial:

Rev 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

This might not seem like a big deal - but what it's preparing for is!!

Rev 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet...

which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty...

Joel 2 - The Great Day of the Lord:

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness...

We see the Battle of Armageddon was not spontaneous

Many verses show there was a period of staging:

Joel 3:9 ...Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near

Vial 6:

13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty....

We've seen vial 6, the drying up of the Euphrates as part of the preparations.

Also the spirits of the devil going forth to gather the kings of the earth.

And in Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

This is going to be an enormous battle!!

We can see leading up to the battle - the main character will be the antichrist.

Daniel 11 once again gives us a pretty good picture of how this plays out:

Starting with verse 40:

40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

The antichrist is apparently being forced into a confrontation by the kings of the north and south.

Can we identify who the king of the south is today?

King of the south depicted in the prophecies of Daniel will be the King of Mecca and Islamic progenitor.

Daniel 11:40 And at the time of the end shall the “king of the south” (Saudi Arabia) push at him: (Antichrist) and the king of the north (Russia) shall come against him (Antichrist) like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over....

Normally, directions are commonly assumed to be north and south of Israel.

But this time it appears they are north and south of the antichrist's abode.

The bible seems to intimate - that initially it's not in Jerusalem but elsewhere.

I say this based on these verses:

Dan 11:41 ...He shall enter also into the glorious land...

45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace - remember - he thinks he's a god.

So, where does he live?
