Tying the chapters 7 and 8 together - we are given 2 ways the antichrist arrives on the scene.
Chapter 7 - it's clear he rules the very last kingdom on this earth.
Chapter 8 - he only succeeds in ascending to leader ship after the goats horn is broken into 4 separate entities.
From there both chapters add some detail about the character of this evil person:

Daniel 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
23 ..... The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Daniel 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.
12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

If we extract the antichrists qualities we have in chapter 7 and 8 so far: shall subdue three kings shall speak great words against God shall wear out the saints of the Lord change times and laws magnify himself above God take daily sacrifice away cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered by peace shall destroy many There are other chapters where we learn of the antichrists characteristics, but the bulk of them come from 7 & 8. Daniel 8 continued: Gabriel, an angel God sent to Daniel to interpret the vision tells Daniel the vision is for the end of time and gives him a breakdown of the vision. Here is where we get more information on the antichrist: 23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. 24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.Who are the mighty?We know who the holy people are i.e. Israel Quote from Passage above: (He) shall destroy the mighty.
Compare James 5 to woman on beast aka mystery babylon (Rev 17 & 18). Are they one and the same, whose destruction causes a worldwide economic collapse: Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. 23....f or thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries(cdo's, derivatives) were all nations deceived.Rev 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. The passages here can readily be applied to bankers today: James 5 King James Version (KJV) 5 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. 3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. 4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
------------ James 5 is pretty much saying what Revelation does about the wob The mighty refers great men of the earth in James 5 and Rev 18. Notice what it says - you have heaped treasure together for the last daysClearly, this is the end times. It is the antichrist who destroys the woman on the beast: in one hour destruction comes upon you - and a collapse of the entire financial system ensues: Next verse sounds like 4th seal of Rev 6 - death and famine. Perhaps her demise kicks of the 4th seal. With a collapse of the entire world's economys - famine and disease and death would follow: Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her. 9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, 10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. 11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: Worldwide economic collapse commences: Rev 18:11.....no man buyeth their merchandise any more: 12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, 13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. 14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing I covered where the antichrist destroys the woman on the beast starting here in this thread: Thread: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or almost completed at present (Page 14)
