In the very last days - in many places throughout the bible, we see God protects a remnant of Jews:
Rev 12:14...the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent
---
That is - she (the jews) are nourished for 3 1/2 - the duration of the great tribulation.

It's obvious from the context that Matthew 24 and Rev 12 are speaking of the same event In Revelation we learn satan will essentially be the 'god' or have control over the inhabitants of the earth - It's most evident in the last 3 1/2 years: Small excerpt: Revelation chapters 12-13 go together to tell the story of Satan, who gets thrown out of heaven and unleaGoat Lovers fury on earth by giving the ‘beast’ his power and authority. The 10-horned beast is allowed to execute that authority for 42 months (Rev 13:5), which is the same 42 months that the two witnesses prophesy, after the rapture, during the Trumpet plagues. The two stories are written separately because they don’t merge until near the end of the 42 months, when the 10-horned beast invades Israel (Rev 13:7), attacking and killing the two witnesses (Rev 11:7), which is at the end of their 1260-day testimony. Thus, you can tell that chapters 12-13 take place simultaneously with the two witnesses, who prophesy during the Trumpet plagues, which start after the rapture. So, it makes perfect sense for the Revelation 12 sign, which begins the story of Satan and the beast, to happen near the rapture and nothing is out of order. [ link to daniel11truth.com]
