And Joseph was very generous towards his father:
Genesis 45:23 And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and meat for his father by the way

Initially Joseph thought about revenge - but when he saw how remorseful his brothers were - his heart softened, and he had mercy and a new felt love for them that resulted in his and pharaohs being extraordinarily generous towards them. The same thing happens when we ask for forgiveness from the Lord. Jacob spirits were lifted once he was told the entire story - and saw what his sons returned with: Genesis 45:27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived: Jacob (Israel) said he had enough evidence to convince him Joseph was alive - and wanted to see him before he died: Genesis 45:28 And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.
