Several things stand out in the last few verses.

Why is it that Samson didn't tell his parents he killed a lion and them fed them honey from it's carcass?

Did he withhold from them his unnatural strength for a reason?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77874479

An interesting perspective on Samson's life:

THE SYMBOLISM OF THE LION AND THE BEES: ANOTHER IRONIC TWIST IN THE SAMSON CYCLE

...The Samson story holds a number of rather unique features in comparison with the other cycles in the book of Judges, notwithstanding those features that make it so much like other accounts of the careers of judge- ̃gures.

Thus, even a cursory reading of the book will show that the story of the “last”3of the judges is far more biographical in nature than any of the preceding episodes.

Only the Samson cycle commences with a birth narrative, and that chapter 16 includes an account of Samson’s death also sets the cycle apart as the only one that evokes the notion of a well-rounded story about a judge’s life. It is in the birth narrative that we ̃ndthe conspicuous angelic announcement, which itself is unprecedented in the book of Judges...

...We have noted earlier that the lion’s cadaver was an unlikely host for a“community” of bees. But so was Canaan for Israel. For although the prom-ised land was introduced as a “good land” (see above), initially God’s holynation (cf. Exod 19:6) entered an “unclean” zone....

It appears Samson withheld the fact that he killed the lion and gave his parents honey from it - because he had a plan of sorts:

Judges 14:10 So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.

11 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.

12 And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments

So Samson's plan was a riddle - most likely this played a part in God's weakening the Philistines:

Judges 14:13 But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77726443

The men tried to unravel the riddle for 3 days, to no avail:

Judges 14:14 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
