My retirement money needs to be placed somewhere. If you could buy a stock, gold, silver etc, what would you buy now and why? | |

Do you think they put in a respectful refusal clause for you? They didn't even include a limits or return or compensation clause. Do you think if you say you don't remember where it is or that you lost it that they will leave you alone? That is a scary thought. LisaDiane |

All suggestions would be appreciated. I would recommend to you what I did after many months of study, including getting a certificate in financial planning from our university. (Not a CFP, a certificate for completing a one-year course). buy yourself a tax-free pension: an IUL. this is an Indexed Universal Life Insurance Policy. You want one designed to maximize LIVING BENEFITS, not the death benefit. NOT for the death benefits! You want supplemental money to use for yourself in retirement - this is a tax-free vehicle, as long as the policy is in effect. I have an Omega Builder policy by Minnesota Life. [link to advisor.securian.com (secure)] for TWO premium payments (just 2) over 2 years, I have the potential for good growth, without a loss of capital if the stock market goes negative. the money is tax-free to you as long as the policy is in force. It could end if you took all the money out, that would not be smart. We are looking at taking out payments of between 5,000 and 10,000 per year if my illustration holds - this year the growth rate was DOUBLE the illustration value. All I want is to get good safe interest on my savings, and tap into an income stream in about 10 years. my interest this past year was 13%. Apple and pear trees, raspberry, blueberry bushes, strawberries and veggie gardens. For the real doom and gloom people - invest in heirloom seeds that you can save and plant each year for your veggie garden. MUST have full pantry of food and toilet paper type goods. Also, I know there is no silver in your dimes/quarters, but if you have actual coins, those are minted by the United States Mint. The dollars are not. So, if the dollars collapse and are revalued to another type of dollar, the coins might (might!!) maintain value. Just a thought. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43637264 What if the company goes out of business? Not sure how the "insurance" works if company goes out of business - verify that before investing every penny there. Not so. it is one part of a balanced retirement plan. most people also have an IRA, 401(k), or something of the nature. I also have a DB - a defined-benefit pension. the old-style pension, instead of an IRA. another item in my mix is an annuity for a much higher amount than the Indexed Universal Life policy. but believe me, my total nest egg is small small beans compared to some. if you consider an IUL, you can pick what you want to index it to. This allocation is also changeable. The IUL is NOT the mainstay of my retirement, but it IS the growth vehicle. my regular pension will not grow much, that's for sure! as for it going out of business, I have more faith in Minnesta Life than in the US government. and grow a garden too! a shame we can't grow dollars. All suggestions would be appreciated. you should never put all eggs in 1 basket..some precious metals..maybe 10%..40-50% in super low risk income funds. 30% in cash.. I've seen some get a 4.5% return and if the market tanks, your principal is safe. Yeah..a few firearms and ammo..maybe a grand on cryptocurrencies..there is a lot of agreement that the market is due for another correction. WHen and how hard is anyone's guess. The bitcoin/litecoin stuff could go to zero, so I wouldn't dive too deep into that. |

If you could buy a stock, gold, silver etc, what would you buy now and why? Are energy stocks still low? Invest when there is blood in the street. Keep it safely in a money market account, which spreads it over world currencies. Seriously consider a low monthly brick and mortar business that would have a strong internet market. A business that pays returns would be worth more than money. Think of ways to split the money. Think of the golden division. 63% - 36% Think how long you worked for that money. Be frugal and safe with your money. Think twice before investing in something when your emotions are driving you. Arabele land in the midwest that does not need upkeep can be found for very cheap, and will always be considered of value. Land is the ultimate hedge against inflation. Food production can become like spinning gold from hay. Silver is beautiful. I love the sound of it...the smell of it. Good Luck. |

If you could buy a stock, gold, silver etc, what would you buy now and why? buy seeds for food production (including cover crops, perennials, and annuals produce), books (homestead, off grid, gardening (organic) farming), shelter (be it land and home off grid or tents, sleep bags, mobile shelter), food and a way to prepare it, fire arm and ammo for hunting and/or protection. Then silver or gold, ideally silver as it has the most usage and is the most manipulated price wise. Most of the suggestions seem to put faith in a system that is failing, worldwide. our mind says dont give up and keep pushing forward, but our progression is linear and heading for implosion. With that said, invest in things mentioned about to start a real way of living, simple life, of real value and quality when this matrix illusion and western culture/technological path crumbles to pieces. No banks, no phones, no electricity, no help, no laws. Just Nature and the coming human species decision time. |

Using thier system to your advantage is somehow wrong. I'd personally be looking towards the hardware end of these companies. You realize how much our idiot leaders pay for armaments and how much is bought worldwide ? While you're collecting your pile of shit you may never use, I'll be laughing all the way to the bank. As long as there's money to be made, the system won't collapse to the point that you're scrubbin around in the woods. Do your research and look into the companys' short and long term plans. These indicators are more reliable than some retard scaring you on TV or the internet. |

If you could buy a stock, gold, silver etc, what would you buy now and why? Why do people think this? Just put it in a bank and save it. Over a lifetime, you come out same as the "savvy investor" -- without any stress or worries. EVERYONE should do this, because all "investing" is rigged and fraudulent. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67133265 It's hilarious to watch. Like the person in this thread they all sing from the same "diversified" sheet. They insist that if you diversify and hold for the long term you can't lose. When the market crashes (which happens every ten years or so) it doesn't matter if you're diversified, you still lose. After it settles out they all go back to singing that same tired song again. The only difference is the letters that they attach to their pieces of paper they're selling you. If you're not on the inside then you are part of the vast flock of sheep that get shorn time after time. If you have money to invest then invest it in real tangible assets. Buy assets that create a revenue stream, pay off all debts and build real wealth, not paper wealth. Stop buying the lie that you can just sit back and let your money grow with no effort on your part. |

If you could buy a stock, gold, silver etc, what would you buy now and why? For the people who believe the stock market will go down 50% in the upcoming bear market... Take thousands of dollars = that you have set aside now for "emergency" fund and put in a "LIMIT" order to buy "ALL OR NONE" of 100 quantity of one stock at a price that is as low as it was back in 2008. Have that limit order to go until you decide to cancel it. That way, you have your emergency fund still, but if the stock market does go down, you have bought in at a good price. Oh yes, might want to make sure that purchase is for a dividend paying stock. Best of luck in whatever you decide. Lots of websites such as dividendmantra. He also includes blogroll of others like him out there who are investing. |
