Anonymous Coward User ID: 67283630 United States 03/20/2015 09:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You people crack me up. Disco was killed in a baseball field in 1979. That's why I started posting new wave music after 1979. Video killed the radio star. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 175495 No - what killed Disco was that many of the people in the clubs around America were not heavy drinkers. While there was some drinking and some drugs, the majority of the serious dancers did not. Even with high cover charges the clubs could not make money. Needing to succeed financially they turned back to the more heavier rock sound, as they knew that that crowd loved their alcohol. And THAT is what killed Disco. I'm guessin' you missed this, Derp: I remember this. I was in high school. The white chicks all of a sudden stopped listening to disco, overnight. THAT is what killed Disco. How old were you in 1979? I was 24. And unlike you, had been going to clubs for years. Unlike kids like you who only knew about it on TV and the papers. You really believe that one publicity stunt in one city killed an entire genre in the music industry? It also proved what I said earlier - how all of the "white chicks" you knew were just a bunch of sheep being influenced by what they perceived as being "cool" at the time. When that stunt occurred they panicked and moved on to the latest "cool" thing. If they REALLY liked Disco, they would have said "F*** YOU - I'M STILL LISTENING TO AND DANCING TO IT". But they didn't. Sheep. I also liked how all of the people who claimed that people who enjoyed Disco were phonies, but then in 1980 when Urban Cowboy came out, those same critics dressed up in jeans and Stensons and said "Yee-Haw! We're cowboys!" |

I was in a band in 1979 at the pivotal moment when the new generation moved on to metal and/or new wave. If you didn't like my thread, why did you listen to the tunes I posted? Cryin' at the discoteque? wahhhhhhhhhh =.(............ |
