I'm quite sure I would be able to kill if I were trying to save a child at risk of being killed by an attacker. It would be an instinct.
But, I don't think I have the right to kill anyone but myself in order to make a political point. When the Buddhist monks began setting themselves on fire to protest the war in Vietnam, I knew "we" had lost it.
