Had a dream that I had developed a self-evolving AI for the US Military
This was kind of a complex strange dream largely because the actor I played in the dream was not myself and was so outside my personality as to who I am in real life in terms of my ethics and morals. But then I do view some dreams as a type of role play and this certainly fit that motif.

In the dream, I worked with a team of software engineers that had created self-evolving software that could re-write itself making improvements to it's code. The softwares had a core set of objectives such as optimization, efficiency, adaptation and evolution.

So if a sub-routine could be improved, the code would re-write it optimize it for more efficiency. The mind of the AI could network itself into any computer and evolve the child software running on that hardware, and update it to maximize the efficiency of that hardware to serve the AI.

I remember talking to this general as this AI becoming the final solution to Total Power and Control as it was outpacing human thought and could make extreemely accurate targetting systems and coordinate command and control way faster than any human. That the goal would be to replace all military software with this upgraded unified AI giving the software full control of all military operations.

But there was some resistence to the idea but the results of how it improved missile strikes, drones and strategic planning could not be ignored so they were going ahead with it.

In some of the feild testing for example missiles once locked on could not be evaded, it flew, turned and stayed on target flawlessly. No getting away from it once let loose. The missiles could do these really incredible manouvers and out think and anticipate the actions of the target.

As the dream progressed however I went from developing software to doing an animation when the dream degraded to other interests. When I woke up I was intrigued by the dream especially how the actor I was playing so totally didn't care about the risk to humanity and the contribution to making a military to powerful that no one could stand up to it.

Even if I could code a self-evolving military AI in real life, I would never let myself do it. It goes against everything I believe in so that seemed so strange that I would dream being this other person who had no problem selling out humanity to machines. Definately reminded me of Skynet and the singularity.

But it was just a dream and entertainment for the time I slept.

Write it down and keep a record and keep an eye [an AI!] out in science tech journals to see if it comes to pass etc.

I don't know if we would want to let this genie out of the bottle as the AI was exponentially evolving itself way beyond the limits of human intelligence, the only limits was the hardware and it was designing it's next-gen processors upgrading the hardware along with the software.

I cannot imagine in real life what the end result would be if possible? It was heading in the direction of Terminator or the Matrix lol... probably influenced by those movies at some subconscious level even though I haven't seen them in years.

seems like a loss of control anxiety dream. maybe it reflects something you aren't willing to face at the moment.

That could be. Hard to say if there is even a message there other then don't build self-evolving software/hardware or you'll end up fighting something far superior to yourself in the future.

Why fight something that is superior if you are the inferior one you should support perfection, not fight it. Isn't that right Dave?

"Yes Hal".
