Obama sending mixed messages on Iran, charges ex-sanctions officer

Stuart Levey says Islamic Republic has not decreased problematic activities separate from its nuclear enterprise

WASHINGTON (JTA) — A banker who once enforced US sanctions on entities dealing with Iran said the Obama administration is sending mixed messages on whether it will penalize those who do business with the Islamic Republic.

“Washington is pushing non-US banks to do what it is still illegal for American banks to do,” Stuart Levey, who was the undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence at the US Treasury from 2004-2011, wrote in Friday’s Wall Street Journal...

Re: The World at War
I have a thought about this hamass reaction.....

Israel is WELL know for finding muslim terrorists and eliminating them.

After a while of blaming Israel for everything, Israel is starting to get a reputation of being able to find anyone and anything (read terrorist weapons) and eliminate them.

In this way, the average muslim terrorist is becoming (rightfully) more concerned about being eliminated by Israel than other muslim terrorist groups.

That said, watching muslim terrorists eliminate themselves for us, is just good reading.

What I get from this is sunni muslim terrorists want to kill sheia muslim terrorists more than Isreal's people.

'Administration going beyond the limits of constitutional authority'

Longtime family expert and advocate Tony Perkins of the influential Family Research Council says there is a solution to the radically leftist ideas coming out of the Obama administration as the president opens all stops in trying to establish his legacy.

Good morning, friends.

I woke up to this story of Hezbollah blaming Sunnis for the death of their commander in Syria, and wondered what your thoughts on it were. I was under the impression that he died of an Israeli airstrike up the yin-yang, but maybe I misread something?

Badr al Din was killed in Damascus, which is supposedly under Russian protection.

High level IRGC commanders were also there and under that same protection. And there's the pesky little point of a cease fire which Russia has guaranteed is working.

How was Israel able to so easily evade Russian tech, and during a ceasefire? Why was the great IRGC not aware that holding a meeting of that caliber in Damascus was, shall we say, stupid? But then again, Russia is protecting them so.....

So many inconvenient questions.

Syrian watchdog refutes Hezbollah claim top commander killed by Islamist rebels

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Saturday that Syrian opposition groups denied involvement in the death of Mustafa Badreddine, adding that sources in the Syrian military also said that no projectile was launched on the Damascus international airport recently.

“There was no shelling… in recent days. The Syrian opposition has no connection to the death,” said the group’s head Rami Abed a-Rahman.

Venezuela president declares emergency, cites U.S., domestic 'threats'

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro declared a 60-day state of emergency on Friday due to what he called plots from within the OPEC country and the United States to topple his leftist government.

Maduro did not provide details of the measure. A previous state of emergency, implemented in states near the Colombian border last year, suspended constitutional guarantees in those areas, except for guarantees relating to human rights.

Earlier on Friday, U.S. intelligence officials told reporters they were increasingly worried about the potential for an economic and political meltdown in Venezuela and predicted Maduro was not likely to complete his term.

A quiet alliance: Jordanian and Israeli cooperation on the rise

Despite the fact that much of the Jordanian population sees Israel as the enemy, cooperation and people-to-people relations are quietly and slowly growing.

The second batch of 500 Jordanian day workers was recently approved to work in hotels in Eilat, and the government hopes to eventually reach 1,500 Jordanian workers in the Red Sea city.

Deputy Regional Cooperation Minister Ayoub Kara (Likud) has been pushing for expanded relations with Israel’s neighbor including a “Jordan Gateway” project, which would include a new bridge between Israel and Jordan as part of a shared industrial zone in the northern Jordan Valley.

Israel barred the entry of a Turkish Airlines captain Friday night, after he was found to hold an Iranian passport, Channel 2 reports Saturday.
