Exactly why Kuwait cancelled all flights in and out of Lebanon until further notice. They've been notified.

I definitely think you are on the right track. Iran is a hindrance to both US and Russian objectives in the region. If you remember there was recently a story about how if Trump was to cancel the Iran deal then they threatened to develop a nuclear weapon within one week of cancellation. This is the real threat in my opinion. Yes, there are targets in Syria, but the influence that Iran is having in the region including Iraq is very unwanted by the major players.

Thanks. It makes sense to me. Iran is getting just a little too pushy for Putins' liking. He has full intention on Russia being the King Dog of the ME and that pipeline. He may use Iran but he definitely won't share that throne with them.

Trump can go in under the pretext of chems, hit IRGC bases and a few hezz housing mosques, while SSA and Russian forces have pulled back out of range and they both get what they want. No harm, no foul...except for Iran of course. Awww...such a shame. It won't stop them but definitely sends a message that the gang knows what they're up to.

My only issue with this though is that Russia would have to be complicit and right now neither country (Iran or Russia) has very many friends that they can afford to lose. However, with the implied flexibility that Israel has demonstrated in Russian controlled airspace over Syria against Iranian forces, without the intervention of Russian forces, I agree that Russia does not have Iran's back due to conflicting interests in developing Syria. Russia too saw the influence that Iran tried to exert over Iraq once US forces left and do not want the same thing to happen in Syria.

Exactly, Russia is not friendly with Iran due to common interests or trade, but merely out of opposition to US policies.

China on the other hand IMO is only out for themselves and truly allied with nobody, but their expansionist policies in the SCS has required them to seek out alliances of convenience much like the Russians.

Unfortunately for us (the USA), China does have much to offer Russia in terms of improving their economy and realistically we should be encouraging an alliance with Russia against China instead of pushing Russia away.

The real problem long term is China and if they continues to grow at the same rate and invest our money (from the trade imbalance) into their military, we will be unable to compete with them either militarily or economically 20-30 years from now.

I see rational players engaging in a non nuclear military exchange. As long as irrational players sit on the sidelines, the US and Russia may go to blows, but will descalate at least momentarily. Then Russia may push further into Ukraine and even other NATO nations to prove a point and only over the border enough to deter further escalation . Russia will be embarrassed and need to save face with any military confrontation with the US or Israel. The results a month ago for Russia were embarrassing last time in Syria.
Meanwhile, add in Turkey or Iran and who knows what the results will be in the coming battle.
We may see Damascus in ruins due to Iran hitting Dimona.
G-D's word shall now be preached!

Did you notice what China did during the resolution votes? They abstained on the first 2 but voted NO on the Russian resolution. Maybe the Chinese/Russian handshake isn't as firm as we think?

Re: The World at War: All Preparations for Rafah Operation Completed...pg 4412 - Iran Signs Security Agreement w/Russia..pg 4413

Did you notice what China did during the resolution votes? They abstained on the first 2 but voted NO on the Russian resolution. Maybe the Chinese/Russian handshake isn't as firm as we think?

No China is looking to replace both Russia and the USA has the Global Power. China dislikes Russia even More than it does the USA. The age of the West is over it is the rise of the East that is coming China and India. China is even more friendly to Iran than Russia. China would be over Joyed if Russia and the USA beat themselves to a pulp and died.

It could be the very reason China did that to Russia was over the halting of the Silk Road 2.0 by Russia against China. The road was literally halted cold with no reasons given publicly, at the border in Kazakhstan.

This infuriated China and they changed the route for Silk Road 2.5, which will take China into Afghanistan through Pakistan, to Iran which will ultimately go to Turkey as they planned it.

Alliances of convenience do not tend to last long.
