It just seems like a long drawn out conflict in which neither side wants to win.

Maybe that's a good thing, maybe they both don't want to pull that final trigger that will result in the deaths of countless civilians, but in that case then stop fighting.

It seems as if both side want to be seen as fighting, but neither wants to fully commit to victory.

In light of all that, what's up with the conflict, and who's playing the strings?
