The place is like a luxury hotel for big Core wheels. She's trying to decide what to do with her legs, which are now dangling uselessly. She's not quite ready to wrap them around him, not this early in the date. Then she feels them spreading apart--way, way apart" |

You would need some kind of gazebo and living space outside above yourhouse... and a job of course... cant stay underground like a vampire. I jus think it is a good oppertunity for the ever growing poorer classes to experience home ownership. The 'typical' American home in America costs at least 80-100K to build, and are not even as sturdy as this. As a carpenter, I believe that the economy is the reason why people are not starting to use more permanent materials in home building. Home maintenece is big business. Both taxes paid and the beaucracy surrounding it such as code inspectors, utilities, millions of small businesses (such as my own). |

Quoting: monica6269 "Construction crews moved 16 10,000-pound shipping containers into place Tuesday as part of an avant-garde apartment development project in Phoenix. "Containers on Grand will transform the 16 containers from the Port of Long Beach into eight urban apartments on Grand and 12th avenues near downtown Phoenix. "Brian Stark, a principal with Scottsdale-based architecture firm StarkJames, is developing the shipping container apartments on a former used car lot. "He said getting the containers into the place was the biggest challenge. He said construction will start on fashioning the containers into eight 740-square-foot, one-bedroom apartments. Developers are looking at monthly rents in the $1,000 range. "The project is one of the first shipping container housing developments in the U.S." [link to m.bizjournals.com] 1000 a month for that. You can actually just weld them all together into a single structure and then cut out the interior panels for large interior spans - no additional framing needed. Only the frame bears the load, not the walls, so they can be safely removed. You can then cantilever another set on of containers on top of those, giving you a covered entrance in front and a second floor balcony in the back. |

Yea, I saw a youtube vid of a family that had 4 shipping containers connected at the corners in a square, with a small yard on the inside. It was a totally secure compound complete with steel frame door, basically unpregnable, and in a SHTF scenario, it is easily defensible with being able to take up defensive positions in a 360 degree area around your home. Not only do i think it is awesome, but I also think it is the future, whether we want it or not. Prefabricate homes that are put together on site are gaining popularity... the only thing left is to find new cheaper ways to do it. |

They can just spray some rubber, styrofoam type stuff a few inches deep all over it and then fiberglass over it for a protective barrier. I'm just assuming about the fibroglass top, but you get the idea. Housing is going to change rapidly in the future, especially now that the middle class in America is dissappearing. |

Containers travel half the planet on a ship. Going from cold weather to hot weather. Dry and wet. And vice versa. Now put the average American house (usually wooden) on top of a ship and let it travel half the planet. See what's left over of it when it arrives at the final destination. None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free. |
