I want to accept Jesus Christ as my lord and savior - yet how do I know this is "right" religion?

getting sick of skeptics treating it like some sort of game.

If you don't believe what Jesus did. You haven't got the grace to understand it's true. For some people it's obvious. If you took the effort to be honest and actually wanted to know, it would be obvious to you to.

You don't have to belong to a church, which is religion, just be a Christian until you can feel where you might want to belong. The bible says to come out of her my people, which I always thought meant to come out of organized religion. Man always screws it up.

If you really want to know, you'll find out.
Just open a Bible and read.

If you aren't serious about it, you'll get what you put into it.

If you legitimately want to know though, it will come when you start asking for knowledge and understanding and seek it diligently.

Be lead by Almighty God and read.

Then consider, then read more.

It is almost akin to watering a plant; don't drown yourself in knowledge, take it slowly.




The understanding you have in the beginning will differ greatly over time, and be prepared for when the road becomes rocky. It isn't paved every step of the way.

It's almost as if I'm afraid to say the word "Jesus"

I'll say "The Universe did this for me..." or "Thanks to Karma, I got this..." etc etc

It's like GOD is OKAY to say but not Jesus Christ.

I was in Christianity for my whole life and even as a child was very confused by all the obvious non-biblical traditions. I married a messianic and now we keep the 7th day sabbath. Instead of communion we have kiddush together at home. You can be a follower of Yeshua and not be in Christianity. Set aside 24 hours next Shabbat ( Friday sundown until Saturday sundown) have the bread and wine and spend the time with Him on His Day. This is the marriage. He knows those who are toward him.

Jesus walked on water, turned water to wine, healed people of disease, raised someone from the dead. got raised from being dead himself. No-one else in history has done it and his entire life was predicted before he was born.

now why would you want to do that? and which jesus? the jesus of the bible the catholic church organized, manipulated and decided what was fit for worship? or the gnostic jesus found in texts like the gospel of thomas who described a more pantheist type of god, where god is literally everywhere and in everything, including yourself. many writings of the gnostic gospels are earlier than the new testament gospels. i believe the biggest secret is that you are god. he said it himself, did i not tell you that you are gods? the kingdom of god is within you?

i believe the real jesus was about gnosis, inner knowledge and discovery. growing to heaven not going to heaven. becoming your higher self unabstructed and unencumbered by sin, yours and others. innocent and childlike like before you knew the harsh and evil ways of the world. wasnt life grand then? that is what i think we are to work towards.

i dont believe jesus was the blood sacrifice to an angry jealous god who is appeased at the spilling of blood to remiss sins with a vain and repetitious prayer. i do believe the jews who wrote the bible assumed and misinterpreted things and superimposed their subjective religion onto christs teachings though. and that is where this idea of a blood sacrificial offering to remiss sins came from since that was a major practice of the jews. to kill cattle and goats to remiss sins.

Well seeing as the bible is no better then a childrens bed time novel at providing proof of what it presents i don't know if it's the right one.

At the same time we have a book that was written by men. I am not doubting on the bibles authenticity but I will not be so gullible to think that its writers had mans best intentions in mind. And the new testament is a contradiction in it itself. It was written by man once again and yet the book itself tells us over and over not to trust in men. How can a book that was written many decades if not hundreds of years after the events took place be taken as literal fact. It all depends on how you look at it, but don't use that pushy attitude of "how can you be so blind as not to believe" on someone looking for the light. No matter what you think you are doing it pushes people away.

Jesus was teaching so much more. Most Christians follow a watered down version the unholy Roman empire created. When he returns his biggest threat will come from self righteous Christians who fail to realise Rome fooled them for 2000 years

But I think they're actually trying to discern some information.

When you have nothing to start with, you don't know where to begin.

The truth shall set you free. The things he speaks of are true. All Christians sprang from the Roman Catholic Church. It was THE original church so to speak. There may have been christians running around meeting in small groups, but until the Romans adopted it as their new faith, the Christians where none to well liked. Many of the so called Christians holidays fall on pagan holidays as well and that is no freaking accident. No matter what anyone wants to believe there is the truth, and there is not. There is no in between. Maybe we get an answer when we die. If we do. I do not think it will be what anyone here in this life is expecting.

No at all. Man started Christianity. Jesus basically taught us how to treat each other with respect and dignity. Don't confuse man with Christ.

It takes humility to come to Jesus op but just know that Jesus is waiting for you to come to Him. He loves you and is waiting to set you free when you come to Him

I think you are reading too much into that bible of yours. There is a god but he doesn't read fairytales like the bible.

I hate reading every response of someone telling you how to be saved. Please understand it's a personal relationship you are asking for and receiving. The best I've seen recently is

The people who helped contribute to the bible were prophets. It's not like writing 50 shades of grey. You have to have certain qualifications to write as a messenger of God. If you read what was written it's not any old rubbish. You have to appreciate the literature before you judge it. It's not like Obama making a speech you can't just lie and lie and lie without backing yourself up. great portion of the bible is written prophecy and a lot of it being fulfilled. You can't do that with harry potter. It's very different to a fictional book. Real people. Real history. Things that contain knowledge and advice on the truth.
