Atlantic Canada birds face starvation after harsh winter

HALIFAX – Birds and other wildlife in Atlantic Canada are at risk of starvation because of the large amount of snow still on the ground, the Sierra Club Canada Federation said Friday.

The harsh winter has prevented wildlife from finding insects and seeds they would normally eat this time of year, prompting the Sierra Club to issue an emergency appeal for help.
