e World Bank cut its 2015 growth forecasts for developing East Asia, and warned of 'significant' risks from global uncertainties, including China’s slowing expansion.

China's growth will cool to 7.1% in 2015, slower than the 7.2% predicted in October and last year's 7.4% expansion, the World Bank said in its East Asia and Pacific Economic Update. Developing East Asia will expand 6.7%, easing from 6.9% in 2014, it said.

The slowdown in China reflects efforts by policy makers to address vulnerabilities in the financial system and make growth more sustainable, the bank said. Growth in the rest of developing East Asia will climb half a percentage point to 5.1% as the drop in energy costs spurs demand in Southeast Asia, it said in the report, released Monday.

"The region will still account for one-third of global growth, twice the combined contribution of all other developing regions," Axel van Trotsenburg, the World Bank's vice president for the area, said in a statement.
