I suggest a revolver to start out Op, unless you're going to get some training (which I also HIGHLY suggest)... a 38 is compact enough to carry in your purse & has decent stopping power. If you're going to get training, then yeah, a Glock is a great gun. I'm a Sig Sauer man myself... P220 ftw. I am a Christian. You have to squeeze the trigger every time for a shot and wont have a accident with controling it going of shooting three or four shots and if you do with a revolver it shows there was fear if it has to go to court. my wife has a lady lavender by charter arms it made to fit a womens hand but take a course at your local shooting range. |

Find a gun shop with a range, and attend a training class. They'll let you handle and fire a whole range of stuff, while teaching you the proper way to use it. A hand cannon will likely just get you killed. Reality isn't like the movies. I prefer something small and light, myself, easily concealable with a fast reload capability. Just keep in mind that the smaller the weapon, the less accurate it is going to be. |

If you're concerned about stopping your neighbor you should purchase a .357 revolver, as it has less chance of jamming like an automatic. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10117483 I'm a petite senior. I want one I can keep at home and when I am in my car. Do you know where people are buying guns now? Do I have to get any type of license or permit, etc.? ENIGMA |

Hire an instructor @ the range an read up on pistolering articles. Get used to the knowledge that yes when you pull the trigger the gun "IS" going to buck in your hand & make a loud noise. Get accustomed to it & expect it. Do not be afraid. And most importantly remember you get what you pay for especially when it comes to firearms & ammo. If you get a cheap firearm & cheap ammo that is a recipe for disaster. |
